Murder at Back Run Road: Laborer Intine Stigler Shot
Intine Stigier a 53 year old hermit and laborer living near Mount Joy was found dead on his doorstep with a bullet through the heart. Authorities say robbery was the motive and the killer remains unknown as neighbors aid in the search. Stigler saved about 15 to 20 dollars which were missing from a bag he carried.

About one hundred representatives from Lancaster County Mennonite congregations gathered at East Chestnut Street Church to establish a home for aged church members. Farmer Dies After Dynamite Blast Near Centreville
George I. Trout a 63 year old farmer of East Hempfield township near Centreville was killed in a dynamite accident while blasting stumps in his orchard. Seven sticks exploded from a basket by his side igniting the stump charge. his right arm and leg were mangled and the arm required amputation. Despite days of hope, peritonitis set in and he died around midnight Thursday. Several children survive.
