John Watson Ellmaker of Earsowie, born about eight decades past, died after years of decline. A Presbyterian, he owned real estate in Bedford and Holland counties and was known for his extensive correspondence and interest in local traditions. Survived by one sister Mrs Walker of Gap and a large family, his body was prepared in Lancaster with funeral services at Fisher and Sons undertaking parlors.
A meeting of tobacco growers association members convened to discuss policy and potential coordinated actions. Attendees reviewed crop conditions and market outlook, with emphasis on pricing strategies and supply stabilization.

Thatcher of Lancaster Ruling and Isaac Cauller of New Holland Ruling received top honors. Landis named district treasurer, Thatcher elected Supreme Representative, Cauller named Grand Guard. More than 100 delegates attended as Major S. S. Horn welcomed them.
The Ladies Auxiliary of the General Hospital will meet at Mrs. E. M. Rutter’s home Thursday evening May 12. Members are reminded to bring reports and plan for upcoming events.
Mother's Day services will be observed at the Methodist church on Sunday evening at 7 30. The time has been changed from 7 o'clock to 7 30 p m. Epworth League will meet at 6 80 p m. On Tuesday evening May 10 the S S Workers Round Table will be held at D R Kendigs home. Officers and teachers are requested to attend.
The Guild of Bangor church at Churchtown plans a novelty social in the high school building next Wednesday May 11 starting at 8 o'clock. Features for the entertainment of the town are announced.
Miss Anna Ness of a large Mississippi town participates in a production at Mt. Holyoke College as local girls take part in the event.
Shillington Odd Fellows No 418 present the Black and White Revue at Harner's Theatre in May. The program features vocalists and comedians led by Bones Shupp and Sambo Mohn with an extensive minstrel lineup, doors at 7 30, show at 8 16, promising entertainment and value for patrons.
The Woman's Missionary Society of Ranch's Church holds its regular monthly meeting at Mrs. Clayton Overly's home on Saturday afternoon May 14 at 2 o'clock. All ladies in the community are invited to attend.
A 5 percent abatement applies to all county personal and borough taxes paid on or before June 1 1921. Tax collection sites include New Holland House on May 19 and May 26 evenings, I G Davis Sons on May 20 21 and May 28, and home No 240 W Main St on June 1. Tax Collector BTo415 P H Shaub announces the schedule.
The borough council met in regular session in the Council Chamber on Monday evening May 2. Shaub the collector was present and made final settlement of tax collected for 1920 duplicates. The Highway Committee was also in session with other items discussed.
A flurry of visits and weekend trips fills Lancaster and surrounding towns as residents travel to see relatives and friends. Guests include Miss Kinzer at a Lancaster funeral, Rev. Raezer visiting Elva Raezer, and numerous couples and families spending weekends in Lancaster, Adamstown, Paradise, and nearby towns.
