Friends and neighbors of Daniel Weaver living east of the borough gathered at his home Wednesday morning to help with plowing and preparing fields for spring planting. Weaver’s wife was seriously injured weeks earlier in a Blue Ball auto crash and remains a patient at Lancaster General Hospital.
The Gleaners Sunday School class of the Methodist held its regular monthly meeting at the home of Miss Elizabeth Dissinger on Prospect Street. Officers were elected with Miss Jenny Wagner as president and Miss Dissinger as vice president and flower committee. The next meeting will be at Miss Sarah Frankhouse’s home in May.
Bareville Leola Leacock team prepared to start the 1928 baseball season with a 5 30 p m opening at the local fair grounds. Fans are invited to attend as the Lions remove the lid on a season promising new players and competitive games.
A visiting party spent time Thursday at the Treasury, White House, State, Navy buildings, and the Red Cross Building. They also toured the Corcoran and Free Art Galleries, the Old and New National Museums, the Smithsonian, Washington Monument, and Mt. Vernon before returning via York and Lancaster.

The Junior and Senior groups later shared a pageant The Glad Chest Fairy and Glad Chests presentation in the basement room drew more than 600 Juniors and Seniors in attendance.
Miss Mary G Good daughter of Mr and Mrs M D Good of West Main street entertained friends at her home on Tuesday evening. Refreshments were served and a delightful social time enjoyed by guests Miss Mary Sensenig Jane and May Dona hue Viola and Irene Martin Lesh Groff Esther Groff and Martha Oy erly.
The Woman's Missionary Association of Ranch's United Brethren Church holds its regular monthly meeting with Miss Laura A. Overly hosting at Dr. and Mrs. J. A. Hoffman's home. An "A" Mother and "Daughter" program will be presented and many members are expected to attend.

Five year old George Supplee Jr. son of Mr and Mrs George Supplee Sr of Lancaster was slightly injured Saturday evening on West Main Street near United Brethren church when a Chevrolet roadster driven by Harry Miller swerved and dragged him before stopping. He was taken to Dr P R Wentz for treatment and treated for bruises and cuts.
The International Council of Religious Education sets aside May 6 to 18 to raise awareness of child religious education and to gain parental support. A May 8 service at 7 30 pm at United Brethren Church features Rev H K Ober on The Rights of the Child with a silver offering. Mothers meeting May 9 at 2 pm in the church basement aims to form a permanent group. Children’s Hour May 12 at 2 30 pm in the public school auditorium offers songs stories and games.
A crowd from Terre Hill Goodville Bowmansville Lancaster and surrounding areas visited relatives on Sunday. Friends and relatives including the Stauffer and Renninger families relaxed at homes in Glenmoore near Hinkletown and Monocacy. Names include Eli Martin Susan Shirk and Anna Andrew with many others listed.
J Nevin Myers son of Rev and Mrs D S Myers Bareville and Miss Mary L Barley daughter of Mr and Mrs Christian Barley Strasburg RD 1 were united in marriage at 6 45 pm Saturday at the Lutheran parsonage Denver. Rev W R Knorr performed the ring ceremony. They were accompanied by James High and Kathryn Barley sister of the bride.
