Harry C Kaffroth faces charges for stealing a horse used at Abraham Witmer’s farm and destroying DeHaven barn with a fatal arson. The recovered animal was identified by owners amid a backlash from a large, tense crowd. Evidence includes horse color, shoes, harness, and the burned carcass found on the mountain.
Investigations proceed into a fire on Jacob R Myer’s farm near the borough. A large barn was destroyed and several horses burned, with strong belief the blaze was set by the same man tied to recent fre list fall.

Mrs Anna Enby widow of Peter Eaby died Friday at her son in law Samuel G Sander home in Ingernaryon township aged ninety two years eleven months and five days. She was born Ranch and a Mennonite. Survived by seven children Susan Evans Elias Mary Sensenich Peter Mrs Aaron H Bear Mrs Samuel G Lauder and Daniel with twenty seven grandchildren and thirty great grandchildren. Funeral Tuesday with interment in Weaverland cemetery.
Williamson's department store of Lancaster presents a spring and summer clothing and hat display at Styer House in the borough on Tuesday May 22. Representatives will show goods and take orders, inviting patrons to visit the mammoth Lancaster store.
A heavy dynamite blast at Levi Good's limestone quarries half a mile south of the borough drilled twenty four holes into rock depths of eleven to eleven and a half feet. Charges totaling about eighty pounds were placed. the blast occurred Saturday evening, shaking the earth and highlighting the quarry's capacity to 1000 bushels.
William D. Weaver a prominent Lancaster lawyer was found dead in his home on Saturday morning from apoplexy. Born 1847 at Weaverland he built a long career in law teaching positions and public service including district attorney in 1886 and active community roles. He left a wife Elizabeth B. Wiley and a son William W. Weaver with siblings and relatives in the region.
Miss Caroline Sharp longtime Lancaster resident dies at John Keller home on Lititz Pike from grip at age sixty seven. She lived with sister Elizabeth at 33 East Walnut and recently moved to Keller’s. daughter of Moses Sharp of Leacock Township. A United Brethren member, she is survived by two sisters Elizabeth of Lancaster and Mrs I Ne Bair of California. Funeral Thursday with Lancaster Cemetery interment.
Daniel Palm of Bonneville died at his home Friday morning after general debility. He was eighty years old and survived by his wife and three sons Peter Z Tenac at home and John D in Reading.

Mrs. Jacob Slegie of Reamstown died suddenly Wednesday evening at the Evangelical church during a prayer meeting. The 46 year old was well known in the northern county and survived by her husband two brothers and a sister.
