An individual applies to the Office of Price Administration for a War Ration Book for the named person. The signer asserts authority to act, states no other ration book applications exist, and cites criminal code penalties for false statements.
Civil defense backed minstrel production features veterans and service members in Hagey’s Minstrel Orchestra. Harry Hall, an airman on furlough, will fiddle on May 12 and 18 at the High School Auditorium, with brothers and fathers serving in the Navy and Army, promising two shows and a Community Cut Rate Store ticket rush.
Public defense officials announce a general blackout within thirty days, lasting about one hour. Citizens and all boroughs should prepare themselves. No time will be advised publicly except to deputy district commanders. Civilian defense units have authority to enforce the blackout in homes and on highways.
Miss Amanda Martin and Joseph B. Kuhns of Chambersburg were married at Bishop Mahlon Witmer's residence in Mauganville on a Saturday at 2 p.m. The couple plans to reside in Chambersburg.
Barbara Witmer daughter of Mr and Mrs David K Witmer of Brownstown and Robert Hershey son of Mr and Mrs Alvin Hershey of Manheim wed at 9 30 a m on Saturday April 25 in the home of Bishop Mahlon Witmer of this borough.
Initiation of the third degree by Earl Lodge No 418 of New Holland Friday May 4 at 8:30 p.m. The Ephrata Degree Team aided by the Suits Degree Team will confer the degree. A new class is forming with initiation starting May 16. Members urged to attend and refreshments will be served.
Tanac M. reports Sensenig Jr. 35 of 240 South Railroad Avenue died from a fractured skull after falling from a coal car at the Earle Sauder coal and feed warehouse in this borough. Coroner Dr. A V Walter labeled the death accidental. Survived by his wife Elta Myers Sensenig and parents Isaac and Annie Sensenig of New Holland R1, plus children Lavern Donald and Arlene. Numerous siblings listed. Funeral held at home and Ephrata Mennonite Church with interment at Weaverland Cemetery.
In April 1892 readers report a rare six foot one inch buffalo fish eagle seen near Spring Grove Dam. The note mentions scarce birds on the continent and a sermon series planned by a United Brethren pastor. A railroad line near Adamstown was damaged and a Salisbury farmer finds twenty chickens hidden in a meadow.

St Stephen Reformed Church Chancel Choir held a chicken and waffle dinner at Amos Weaver residence in Beartown Wednesday evening. A surprise baby shower was given for Sidney Lynn Hershey, son of Mr and Mrs Parke Hershey, with attendees including Mr and Mrs George F Bexsore Mr and Mrs Parke Hershey Mr and Mrs Clayton Martin Charles Laukhoff Wayne B Ranch Mrs Harold Bensinger Mya Clair Weber Mary Good Eloise Bachman Mrs C G Bachman Elizabeth Groff Mrs Philip Brubaker and Clyde Brackin.
The Committee on Physical Fitness for New Holland Borough will convene Monday at 7 30 PM in Room 8 of the school building. Lamar K Blass, boys physical director of the New Holland schools, chairs the meeting and urges all interested persons to attend.
