Edith Burkholder nearly two, died at St Josephs hospital from burns after her clothes caught fire while she played with matches at home near Terre Hill. Certificate of accidental death issued. Survivors include her parents six siblings and two sets of grandparents. Funeral services planned at the family home and Weaverland Mennonite church with burial in Weaverland cemetery.

Daniel Weaver Dies Driving Potato Truck Near Blue Ball
Daniel S Weaver fifty three of New Holland Route 2 died of a heart attack before aid could reach him after his potato truck zigzagged and stopped near Route 322 east of Blue Ball. He collapsed at the wheel and was pronounced dead at a Blue Ball doctor’s office. Survived by his wife Emma Horst and nine children. Funeral services held at the Weaverland Mennonite church with burial beside the Weaver family home.

Fire at Horst Poultry Farm Kills 255-Chick Brooder Blaze
A fire at the Horst Poultry farm between Hinkletown and Blue Ball destroyed a brooder house during the night. About 255 five to six week old chicks perished and the owner estimated losses at $250. Fire Chief F M Stauffer of Blue Ball led the response, attributed to an overheated brooder stove.
