Levitt earns Bronze Star for service in Philippines
Son of Mr and Mrs Abe Levitt of New Holland receives the Bronze Star for meritorious service in the Philippines. He participated in the Leyte invasion after enlisting in 1941 and receiving a commission at Camp Lee Virginia. A Franklin and Marshall College graduate, the 25 year old officer has a sister Charlotte a petty officer third class with SPARS stationed in Philadelphia.

Horseshoe Lines Adds New Bus Service
The Horseshoe Lines, Inc. receives a new bus for three daily round trips among Downingtown, Honey Brook, New Holland, Ephrata and Reading. It schedules 6:35 a.m. New Holland to Ephrata, 7:00 a.m. return to New Holland, and 8:15 p.m. arrival at Downingtown with 9:00 a.m. Philadelphia train connections. A 5:05 p.m. Philadelphia express links to a 6 p.m. Downingtown bus back to New Holland by 6:55 p.m. Five additional New Holland to Ephrata trips will run daily. Commencement is planned for Wednesday, April 4, with schedules available at the Clarion office later this week.

Ambulance Committee Orders Emerson Resuscitator
At a Community Ambulance Committee meeting on Tuesday evening, after consulting local physicians, an Emerson Resuscitator capable of treating two people at once was ordered through company representatives who demonstrated it at the Legion Home. Library Hours Resume Evening Access Friday

Lydia Ann Mellinger Dies at 67 in Hinkletown
Lydia Ann Mellinger wife of Al dus M Mellinger of Hinkletown died at home Monday evening after a lingering illness at age sixty seven. She was a Metzler's Mennonite Church member and daughter of the late Benjamin and Mary Stauffer Zimmermann. Survived by husband two sons Aaron Horst of Hinkletown and Benjamin Z of New Holland two daughters Esther at home and Abram Z of Hinkletown fourteen grandchildren. Naval ensign earns wings from Fort Lauderdale ceremony
Ensign Lester W. Katz son of Mrs. Mabel Katz of Blue Ball received naval air runner wings at Fort Lauderdale Florida. He completed radar training at Bowdoin College and MIT before joining a group of men volunteering for airborne radar combat duty.
