New Holland High School debaters staged a practice assembly on March 26 ahead of the April 9 Lititz Forensic meet. The discussion centered on whether states should provide a unicameral legislature with arguments for and against.
George Tillbrook has reopened the New Holland House Restaurant after remodeling and redecorating the main and grill rooms. A Lancaster artist donated three large paintings including images of the New Holland Rod and Gun Club building a trout fishing fisherman resembling Gifford Pinchot and a hunter in the field with a dog. The modern decorations have drawn favorable comments and Tillbrook expects full removal before April 1.
The Wright Bakery sales force will vie in a salesman ship contest over six weeks. Thirty-three prizes are electrical appliances on display in the sales room, including mixing bowls, lamps, clocks, and irons.
Over five hundred shares of Farmers National Bank and Trust Company stock found buyers at a public securities sale by C. R. Weaver. High price paid was $23 a share for 70 shares by A B C Groff. Total auction receipts reached $15,000 with John C. Redman as auctioneer.
Miss Helen Ganser librarian of Millersville State Teachers College spoke at the Business and Professional Women's Club meeting in the school library. She reviewed books including This Proud Heart and A Poet's Life and shared a panda discovery story. Guests from the college attended along with club members.
J Frank Lammey and George L Dissinger attended the funeral of Rev Charles Zeigler in Richland Lebanon county. Dr and Mrs Bernard Smith and family of Oak Lane Philadelphia were guests of Mrs Doreen Spink on Sunday.

J George Mellinger aged forty seven of 152 East James street Lancaster died at 5 45 am Wednesday in Lancaster General hospital from a complication of diseases He is survived by his children Mrs Ross Neel J George Jr Melvin a sister Mrs Carolyn Axe three brothers Ira Roy John and a granddaughter Private services will be held at Nash funeral parlor 428 North Duke street Lancaster this Friday at 2 pm with private interment in Groffdale cemetery
Katie W Sensenig 72 wife of Martin Sensenig died at home near Blue Bar Thursday morning after a yearlong illness. Survived by husband one foster daughter Mary Hoover two sisters Lizzie Martin and Amos Sensenig two foster brothers Abram Zimmerman five foster grandchildren. Funeral Sunday 1 30 p m at home and 2 p m Weaverland Mennonite church with interment nearby. Friends may visit Saturday 7 to 9 p m.
The Sample Fair and Food Sale will be held in the High School Auditorium on Saturday, April 2. The organizing committee expects many attendees from town and countryside, aiming for a worthwhile, distinct event.
Rev Frank C Torrey of Calvary Independent Church Lancaster will lead a service at the Mennonite Brethren in Christchurch Terre Hill on Thursday evening March 381 at 8 00 oclock. Calvary Men s Bible Class sponsors the event.

The Bridgeville E. C. Sunday School Men’s Bible Class held its annual father and son banquet at the fire hall on Saturday night with over eighty attendees. Rev. Groff and his son helped fight a small blaze sparked by Allen Martin, while guests watched the bucket brigade efforts and laughed at missteps. George Tillbrook reports restaurant catering challenges amid strong patron support.
The New Holland Community League marks the close of its Youth Program with a luncheon and sports night at the school auditorium on Monday at 7 pm. Manheim High School wrestling teams will headline four matches along with magic by Uncle Charlie Mayser. Tickets cost 1.00 and are sold by local clubs and the American Legion.

The ring ceremony was used. The couple were attended by Mr and Mrs James Berkey Limeville.
Jacob G. Witwer son of James Witwer of Brecknock township and Miss Anna Snader daughter of David Snader of East Earl were married Saturday evening at 7 o'clock at St John’s Reformed parsonage Denver by Rev. W. S. Brendle. They were accompanied by Milton Riner and Warry F. Weaver of Ephrata.
The couple, Miss Lillian Agnes Dahlinger of Honey Brook daughter of John Dahlinger of Philadelphia and J LeRoy Smith son of Mr and Mrs Jacob C Smith of New Holland R 2 were married Friday evening at the United Brethren church in the borough. Rev Frank C Aungst officiated. They were unattended and will honeymoon in Washington DC before settling in East New Holland.
A linen shower Sunday at Cafe Tea Gardens Chestnut Street Philadelphia honored Evelyn Plotnick of the borough ahead of her May 1 marriage to Samuel Kaufman of Brooklyn New York. Guests included S Plotnick Lancaster area Eleanor Hurshman Anne Lazarovitz Beatrice Proler Bea trice Halpern and many others from Lancaster Philadelphia Brooklyn Parkesburg Baltimore and Bel Air. Floral and table decorations were pink and blue.
Firefighters from Greenbank Liberty Fire Company responded to an alarm from Greenbank for a chimney fire at Emanuel Steffy’s farm. The blaze was extinguished before reaching the house, according to Fire Chief H. K. Weaver.
A letter from the Patches family in Lima reports an embassy party invitation for United States citizens at the US Embassy in Mira Flores on Washington's Birthday February 22, 1958 from 7 25 to 11 0 p m. The note notes the need to speak English and dine in a homey English style prior to continuing on page 2.
On Wednesday members of the Kings Daughters of New Holland and many friends toured the Philadelphia Flower Show and the Franklin Institute. A large portion also visited the Fels Planetarium with a lengthy list of attendees including Mrs. David Ranck Bareville and numerous other local names from Farmersville Narvon Leacock and surrounding areas.
Wm. Z. Martin announces his tenth annual Spring Livestock sale to be held next Wednesday March 30 at his farm north of the borough. The event features 285 head including 100 horses 75 acclimated horses and mules 60 cows bulls and heifers 125 home raised shoats 5000 baby chicks plus farming implements and miscellaneous items. Cows auction at 9 am pigs 11 am horses 12 pm and supplements 1 pm auctioneers Simon Groff C C Wanner Morris Kling.
