Rev. Robert F. Whiston Dies in Rain Crash Near Ephrata

The Rev. Robert F. Whiston of Quarryville Route 2 was fatally injured in a collision with a truck on Route 222 north of Ephrata during a driving rainstorm. He suffered a skull fracture and died en route to the hospital. He was a well known speaker locally.

Adam Keener Hubertis eighty six Strasburg merchant who retired in 1942 and then worked as an apparel salesman died Wednesday at his Strasburg Township home after age infirmities. He was born at Indian Rock near Pequea son of Jacob and Kathryn Keener Hubertis. He belonged to Strasburg Mennonite Church and is survived by four children Adam R Terré Hill Anits Hubertis Lettie wife of Harry W Sweig art Terre Hill and Barbara Kiscadden four grandchildren. New Borough Manager Named for Springfield

Thomas H. Rile, 26, of Springfield, appointed borough manager by the Borough Council at a special meeting. He works for Gannett Demming Engineering in Philadelphia and follows resigning Joseph E. Russell. Rile holds a civil engineering degree from Lehigh University and is in Mechanicsburg for a major sewage project. Ten applicants sought the post.
