War Department reports Pvt Raymond H Sandoe eighteen killed March four in combat in Germany. He entered the Army September sixteen nineteen forty four after initially rejected for a lung condition. Survived by his parents Mr and Mrs Harner D Sandoe and several siblings.
The Young People of Weaverland Mennonite Church plan a seasonal song service at Weaverland Church. It will be held Saturday March 24 at 7 30 with Amos H Hershey as song leader.
A birthday supper was held for Melvin Styer in Churchtown. Guests included Seaman First Class and Mrs. Carl Cresswell and daughter Norma of New Holland, Mr. and Mrs. George W. Styer, George Styer, and Melvin Styer.
A local committee formed to collect clothing for Europe relief will meet again March 29 at 8 30 pm in the Farmers National Bank basement. The drive aims to gather April donations of usable secondhand clothing washed and ready for distribution through national relief groups led by Henry J. Keiser.

John J Ludwig of Terre Hill died at his home at 12 80 a m on Friday after a weeklong illness. A farmer for 27 years he was a Center Lutheran and Reformed Church member, and belonged to the Moose Lodge and Knights of Malta Lancaster. Survived by wife Alice Steffy a daughter Elizabeth wife of Paul Baumann Lancaster a grandson Cpl Laurence Baumann and several siblings. Funeral from the home Tuesday at 2 pm interment Greenwood Cemetery Lancaster.

Archibald Gilchrist of New York City spoke on Australia New Zealand and the Islands of the South Pacific. The final lecture on April 9 will feature Simon M Davidian of Lima Ohio speaking on Russias Position East and West.

The couple will honeymoon in Virginia and reside on a farm near Lancaster after April 1.
Arlene Elizabeth Buch daughter of Mr and Mrs Wayne Brubaker of Akron and Freddie F Hertzog son of Mr and Mrs Stephen Hertzog of Lincoln were married at 3 pm Saturday March 17 at the bride's home by Bishop Mahlon Witmer New Holland in the presence of immediate families A reception for about 60 guests followed and the couple will live on a farm near Diamond Station near Akron
The Victory Band plans an April 8 program featuring major works by leading composers. Soloist Dorothy Sheaffer will perform Herbert Clark's Carnival of Venice, a demanding cornet piece. The paper will publish weekly updates and urges attendance on Sunday April 8.
Mrs Wayne Cooper returned to Camp McCoy Wisconsin on Monday after a week with her sister Mrs Carl Cresswell of New Holland.
H. M. Stauffer returns to his Leola home after a six week stay in Orlando, Florida.
The New Holland District including the borough and Earl Township exceeded its Red Cross quota by more than 55 percent with eight thousand two hundred dollars raised. Receipts up to Thursday noon show total parish contributions for the borough of New Holland and Earl Township at 8,236.86 dollars, placing the district at the county lead in the 1945 campaign.

Lt. Leonard Levitt son of Mr and Mrs Abe Levitt of this place has been promoted to Captain as of January 11 He serves with the Division Supply Headquarters General Staff He joined after Pearl Harbor and served in New Cumberland Bradley Field Windsor Locks Camp Lee Hawaii Australia New Guinea and the Philippines including Leyte Spar Charlotte Levitt petty officer third class spent five days with her parents and is stationed at the Benjamin Franklin Hotel Philadelphia Mrs Lovel of Philadelphia visits the Levitt family
The Business and Professional Women's Club met at Virginia Renninger's home with Sure Zimmerman in charge in Ruth Witman’s absence. A bake sale is set for Saturday April 7 to aid the China Nursing project. The next meeting on April 9 at Mrs. R. E. Whitmore's home will assign a Pennsylvania Pottery task and display pieces. Mrs. William Kronmeyer attended as a guest.
Charles Rice of this borough won first and second prizes in the Lancaster Camera Club monthly print competition held Monday evening in the clubrooms at 32 East Chestnut Street Lancaster. Robert Fickes won third prize and Mrs. William Wright and Martin Rudy received honorable mention. Judges were Mrs. Paul O. Snake Rev. Harold McMillan and Harcourt Darmstaetter.
Dr Henry G Bucher of Elizabeth Town College will conduct pre Easter services in the Bareville Church of the Brethren during Holy Week. Services are set for 7 30 p m each evening.
