Henry Gelman died Tuesday morning at about 6:90 from a complication of disease at his home near New Holland. The remains were to be moved to the Weaverland Mennonite Church with burial in the adjoining cemetery.
Mrs Christianna Burkhart widow of Augustus Burkhart died of pneumonia at age 51 near Bowmansville. Survived by children Sue Mazie Harry Annie Eli Walter William and sisters Leah Hannah Isabella. Funeral Monday at 9:30 from the late home with interment at Allegheny Church. Rev C G Heffner officiated.
George B Myers of Farmersville died at his home Thursday at 6 30 after a two week illness from typhoid pneumonia aged 86. He is survived by wife and children Clarence Minnie Irene Martha Edwin Mary elvin Roberta and Pauline. Brothers and sisters Carrie Linton D Samuel M Martin B and Walter S also survive. Funeral at his home Sunday 1 30 with public service at 2 00 at Woganeville Union church. Interment in adjoining cemetery. Conveyances meet trolley from Lancaster at 12 80 Groffdale Rotary.
Wagner died at LawGenral Hospital Thursday after a four year illness. She was 58 and survived by a husband two daughters and a son in Lancaster. Funeral services were held Monday at Zeltenreich Reformed Church with interment in the adjoining cemetery.
Callie Frankhouser, daughter of the late Cyrus and Mrs. Frankhouser, died at her Terre Hill home after a lingering illness at 11:45 AM. She was 41 and is survived by two sisters, Lizzie and Samuel Leslie of Terre Hill. A private funeral was held at 1:30 PM at the house with public services at 2:00 PM at the Terre Hill United Evangelical Church. Interment followed in the adjoining cemetery.
A grand spelling bee will be held at Goodville Fire Hall by the Secondary School on Friday March 80 at 7:80 sharp. The program includes a mock trial monologues dialogues music and classes for children and adults. Admission is noted.
St Stephen Reformed Church outlines Holy Week services with evening gatherings and character-focused talks. Confirmation and by letter reception planned, with cantata and hymns listed. An annual congregational meeting follows Good Friday service to elect officers and review treasurer and committee reports.
The choir of St Stephen's Reform Church presents The Lord of the Easter tide on Thursday evening March 29 at 7 38. The choir director and organist is Carl Wagar of Memorial Presbyterian Church Lancaster. A silver offering will be lifted.
A weekly roundup from U. B. Church reports a Wrights Bakery box social with a good crowd and funds raised, a Green Tea Social by the Ladies’ Bible Class at Mrs. Hoover’s home, and an evening program with readings, music, and games. Upcoming services include Sunday school at 9, preaching at 10 15, Junior and Christian Endeavor meetings, and an April 1 address by Rev. Mark N. Wickert with special recitations and music.
The United Brethren church choir hosted a box social at Wrights Bakery on Friday night. The program included Irish numbers, an address of welcome by Rev. Longenecker, a duet by Willis Weldman, a two act playlet Old Maid by Blanche Longenecker and others, box sales raised a neat sum, and a loaned player piano provided music throughout.
Efforts to form a second Lancaster County Base Ball League in the western county are under way. Rohrerstown hosts a meeting that tentatively organized clubs like Mt. Joy Elizabethtown Maytown Marietta Manheim Mountville Rothsville Quarryville Browns Town Gap and the Seventh Ward. Columbia may join or stay with the original league, with a four team alternative possible if it drops out.
At a meeting in the office of L. M. Storb Sr plans for a new 630 capacity grand stand with eight dressing rooms and a shower bath were submitted. The fence committee will start an advertising campaign once fence plans are drawn. Beccker was elected manager but declined. James P. Davis and H. EssRessler take on roles as assistants as efforts to build the team continue. A next meeting is set for Friday evening March 23 and invites all interested members.
The Community Civic Club of New Holland invites all residents to its regular meeting on the first Tuesday night in April. Committees will report favorable progress and several members plan to present updates on community projects benefiting the town.
Lancaster County Rural Mail Carriers protest use of pennies to cover insufficient postage in rural mail boxes. President Harry Ludwig calls the practice a hardship causing carrier inconvenience and time loss. Officials have referred the issue to the Post Office Department for action.
Aaron Yundt and Brubaker Brubaker, both employed at Stauffer and Groff packing house, narrowly escaped fatal injuries after a Buick sedan driven by Dr. Dissler of Denver struck them from behind as they walked along the eastbound pike near Blue Ball. Yundt suffered a likely broken right shoulder blade. Brubaker Brubaker sustained severe head wounds, possible broken ribs, and extensive bruising. Dr. Dissler reported a warning was sounded, witnesses said otherwise, and he transported both men to their homes in New Holland.

Audubon preacher Reverend Geo W Yard returns to the New Holland Methodist Church Tuesday evening April 5 at 7 45 P M. There is no admission charged though a silver offering will not be lifted.

Items included a $87 bureau, a $5 Pikes Peak flask, a $10 cream pitcher, bowls up to $4, rockers $12, a settee $9, chairs up to $6.75, plus a chest bought for $14 containing papers and $25 in gold.

The sixth anniversary of Boy Scout Troop No 1 was celebrated at the troop headquarters in the basement of the Reformed Church on Tuesday evening. Twenty nine scouts registered, including three new members, with remarks from committee members and installation of new leaders.
More than 1500 people from all county sections attended the first community sale of the season in this borough. Amos H. Hershey, manager, called it the largest since the sales began here. Weather was favorable and people arrived by trains, trolleys, autos, and on foot. From Friday morning to Saturday noon, 135 sellers listed goods and about 1200 items sold. The event will be held on the last Saturday of each month through the summer.

Miss Marie Bowers entertained at a St Patrick's party Saturday evening in honor of Miss Bess Edwards of Lancaster. Rooms boldly decorated in shamrock colors with a distinctive luncheon. Guests included Miss Minore of Lancaster, Miss Bowe of Philadelphia, Miss de la Frit, Miss Alice Gamon, and Miss Annie M. Bair, all of town.

The Otterbein Guild held a St Patrick's social in Amos Good's plumbing shop upper room. The room was decorated for the holiday. A playlet titled Old Maid, first shown at the Box Social, was reenacted by the same cast. Refreshments were served.
The final two Lenten services of the Ministerial Association series will be held Fridays March 23 and March 30 at Trinity Lutheran church. The March 28 address will be delivered by Rev. W. H. Hartzler pastor of the United Evangelical Church of Terre Haute. Good Friday services are noted in the schedule.
