Miss Lydia W. Martin returns to Bowmanville from the M. Stork household. Dozens of locals and visitors named from Ephrata to Paradise share weekends and evenings with friends and relatives, including Loomis, Yaninger, Weiler, McWilliams, Doerr, and Grover Lindsay.

The YMCA hosts a box social and cake sale this Saturday evening with dainty culinary department items for sale. Proceeds will go to a good cause as bidders compete in a lively, high dollar auction. The public is invited to attend and support the event.
Grand jurors and several lists of names for quarter sessions and common pleas are recorded for April 19 and April 26, with additional entries for May 3. The lineups include farmers, merchants, craftsmen, and public officials from Ephrata, Salisbury, Paradise, Sadsbury, Upper Leacock, and surrounding townships.
The anniversary shoot at the Denver Red and Gun Club last Saturday drew strong participation. John Andrews of Strasburg won the silver cup by breaking 93 of 100 targets, with Wolfskill of Denver finishing second at 90.
Officials announced no cases of aphthous fever in the county until a new infected herd appeared at Benjamin Bear’s farm near Brownstown. The previous outbreak near R B Getz’s farm prompted three cattle culled on Friday. the new infection led to cattle slaughter on Monday.
Miss Meta Bair, teacher at Green Bank school, is convalescing at the home of William Bowers after scarlet fever. Miss Harriet E Sweigart, a New Holland High School graduate, has passed an exam under Dr. Fleischer and will finish teaching the term.

At a 1915 board meeting in New Holland Pennsylvania the silk mill managers adopted a memoriam for president Theodors M. Stork. He helped found the silk mill and supported local employment, guiding the community with patience and steadfast resolve.
Seals and diplomas total twenty eight in the school. Last Sunday about 202 scholars attended with nineteen new members joining the Christian Endeavor Society. Forty five members gathered last Sunday evening for a topical on Favorite Books of the Bible. Catechism study began Wednesday at 7 30 after Pilgrim's Progress read by the pastor. Everyone is invited. On Friday March six Mr and Mrs Paul Espenshade hosted the choir and former members with games and lunch. Young Men's Bible Class met Tuesday for monthly business with twenty one in attendance. A committee works to secure a special car for Stough Evangelistic meetings in Lancaster. leaders hope a larger turnout. Leola Bible Class members included President Daniel Plank secretary Ellis Dunwoody and assistant M W Schenffer. Friday choir rehearsal at Mrs Slicks' home featured piano selections and refreshments.
Buyers sought the 1014 leaf with prices easing as April 1 settlement looms. Tenant farmers rushed sales to secure cash, warehousing jobs persisted, and cigar manufacturers reported slight improvements. Demand for 1918 packing remained weak as packers asked higher prices, limiting sales.
Alvin Wenger principal of Brownstown High School was ordained Tuesday as minister of the Monterey Church of the Brethren in a service before a large audience. Rev Law Taylor of Neffaville Brethren Home conducted the services. Clayton Hackman near Brownstown was chosen a deacon of the church.
Two elaborate weddings reported with local connections. Violet Troop and Martin Diffenbaugh wed at Gordonville near Lancaster with Rev. Nigh officiating and a Northern tour planned. Bertha Miriam Clark and Elmer Penrose Flaherty wed in Philadelphia with a large party and many guests from Gap New Holland Camden and Phila.
Yip Lee a 48 year old restaurant operator and Ellie Whittle a 32 year old domestic, both residents of Lancaster, obtained a marriage license after initial delay and questions. Lee had never married. Whittle's previous husband died May 22, 1912.
District Attorney Groff told Augustine and Tony Vitale they conspired in the death of rival fruit dealer Tony Collatti in Lancaster on October 31 1918. Rocco Tassone already faced execution in the Western Penitentiary. The brothers were sentenced to death by electrocution and announced appeals for a new trial.
Farmers invited to deliver tobacco trash and fillers at New Holland on Friday March 26 1915. Trash priced at 2 cents and fillers at 0 Reclean and baled in 2 paper. A B Gore New Holland.
Monterey area residents are noted in a long obituary column listing Oliver Myer aged 55 with four daughters and a church funeral at Eby Church. Other deaths include Edwin Ho aged four in Habestown, Mary Elizabeth Burkhart infant, Arthur Sauder age 1 6, Susanna Evans aged 85, Jerome Wolf aged 60, Mary Huber aged 41, Eli Burkhart aged 51, and Lavina Steinmetz aged 71 with multiple survivors and local church services across Reading, Lititz, Ephrata, and surrounding townships.
An aphthous fever outbreak prompts a ten mile quarantine around Kimberton. Inspectors ordered the killing of 48 cows at Parman Gyyer's Kimberton farm and 28 cattle plus 10 pigs at Clarence Pant's property. Hoffiean's Kimberton herd was also destroyed to prevent spread.
There will be an entertainment by the boys and girls of the Isaac Rendall Industrial Training School at Mrs Wag ner s shirt factory in Blue Ball on Saturday evening March 27 1915. Admission in cents. Children under 12 years old 3 cents. The proceeds help to build the school. There will be fine singing and speaking. M H Hagler principal.
The Woman's Missionary Society of the U. E Church Brownstown will hold a missionary oratorical contest in Brownstown hall on Saturday evening March 20. Doors open at 7 15. The public is invited.
Rev. Mountz preached Thursday evening at the Church of the Redeemer in Lancaster. He led the large catechetical class that will be confirmed on Whitsunday.
Direct from the mill a carload of corrugated galvanized roofing named Apollo offered with price calls. Distribution includes 16 dav sacks and New Holland Pennsylvania as locations.
A notice states a meeting will be held on Tuesday evening at 8 o'clock at the home of Mrs Frances Hammond on Brimmer Avenue to discuss local community affairs.
