Wounded on Iwo Jima a New Holland native Joe Kurtz
Son of Mr and Mrs M M Kurtz of this borough was wounded in the Iwo Jima invasion. A note from a medical corpsman says Joe Kurtz sustained a wound to the right arm between the elbow and wrist. He enlisted July 1942 and went overseas December 1943 after serving in the Marshall Islands Saipan and Tinian invasions. He is a 1939 New Holland High School graduate formerly with DeWalt Products Lancaster.

Bentley S. Styer eighty three died Sunday noon at his son Walter Styer's Narvon home from asthma following a weeklong illness. He lived in Blue Ball until five years ago and was a Center Lutheran Church member. Survived by son Walter, another son George Narvon R1 a daughter Della Coldren East Earl, twelve grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, four brothers Wilson East Earl RD George Plain City Fla James East Earl RD and Charles Elverson RD2. Victory Band Concludes Concert Series with Soloist
