Engaged as a tobacco buyer for the Gener Cigar Company with Gusti Stauffer noted. Fragmentary OCR leaves unclear full names and dates but identifies a tobacco buyer connection and a company.
The infant son of Charles and Hele Hammond of this borough died Sunday morning at the parents' home. The child was five days old.
Funeral services for a Smoketown area resident were held Thursday afternoon at 1:80 o'clock from the late home with further services at 2 o'clock at Smoketown Mennonite Church. Burial followed in the adjoining cemetery.

The Lions Club heard an engaging address by Mr. Gerhard on Japan where he teaches. He discussed government social life and educational facilities with abundant detail. Wayne B. Rarick was admitted to membership. Next meeting set for Tuesday March 22 at the usual venue.

The Liberty Fire Company in this borough received a new 600 gallon triple combination LaFrance pumper. Arrived Monday, the engine can deliver up to 900 gallons per minute in a large blaze, aiding near borough calls and improving old water-relay limits.
The New Lions Club representing Bareville Leola and Leacock will hold its organization meeting Monday evening March 14 at the Bareville Fire hall. Charles Cooper of Leacock as temporary chair says the club expects more than the required charter members. About twenty five New Holland Club members plan to attend and Rev G G Bachman Roy L Winters and Charles S Zwally will address the gathering. Local members not present Tuesday should notify H Earle Wright by Saturday morning to reserve seats.
Jonn H. Sensenig Sr of Reading pursued a post graduate course in Advanced Optometry at the Daniel Boone Hotel Reading. The program was supervised by Dr A M Skeffiington a renowned optometrist. Sensenig devoted effort to correcting eye troubles aiming for greater community service.
The King's Daughters Loyal Hone Girl group met at Tinlty Lanier church for an evening session at 7:30. Margie Hess led the opening with song and Bible readings. Minutes were read and approved. They planned a June pageant coached by Leroy Groff with Robert Bair writing. An International convention is set for Lancaster on May 8 and 9.
The B. A. T. Club of Leinbach & Company Lancaster Pa was entertained at a chicken and waffle supper at Glen Grill Restaurant in the borough. Mr and Mrs A W Weiler served the banquet. Covers were laid for twenty.
A recital by the combined orchestras of Mrs Ida Devlin’s pupils from New Holland and Lancaster will be held at the local high school auditorium on Thursday March 24 at 8 00 pm. The program includes violin solos duets trios saxophone numbers trombone piccolo and trumpet pieces and whistling solos. Admission is 25 cents and all are invited.
