At the March meeting the borough adopted a meter repair program. One sixth of meters will be renconnected each year. Two dozen better meters will be bought along with speed limit and no parking signs and an adding machine. The financial report was adopted.
Rev. W. A. Kutz pastor of Bridgeville and Mt. Curmen Evangelical Congregational churches celebrated his thirtieth ministry anniversary with Bishop C. H. Mengel of Allentown visiting. Tokens of appreciation from Sunday School groups were given, and special music was performed by the church and visiting musicians.
J. B. Zimmerman of Blue Ball marks the first anniversary of his new heating and electrical store with March 10 and 11 events. He will greet customers, offer refreshments, and feature displays demonstrations and numerous specials during the two days.
The private kindergarten in Akron closed this week due to illness affecting teacher Mrs Ruth Ruppin Lane.
New Holland High School loses to Kutztown High 36 18 in the District 3 PI AA playoffs at Northwest High School Reading. Kutztown earns Berks county crown by toppling Lancaster reps as Max Danner scores 18 points and Lee Wagaman adds key baskets.
The 9 16 Men s Bible Class of St Stephen Reformed church hosts the Lancaster County Federation of Men s Bible Classes on March 19 at 2 pm. Dr Charles Swope president of West Chester State Teachers College will deliver the inspirational address. The event aims to draw many county representatives.
The Open Door class of St Stephen Reform Sunday School held its monthly meeting Tuesday evening at the homes of Miss Margaret Yohn and Mrs Kathryn Strode in Blue Ball. Devotions led by Mrs C C Warner and Mrs Erma Ditzler. New sisters named during social hour. Prizes won by Mrs Elsie Walters Mrs Earl Weaver and Mrs Norman Eby. The Christian Endeavor Society of the Limeville United Brethren church plans a St Patrick's Day Supper on Thursday March 16 in the church social rooms.
The Loyal Workers Circle of King's Daughters will meet on Tuesday March 14 at the home of Mrs M Groff in regular session.

William G Schnupp age 81 was found dead in his daughter Anna Harsh's home Lancaster after a death ruled by strangulation. He formerly lived on Jackson street and on a farm south of the borough. Survived by ten children, twenty three grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral at Esbenshade Funeral Home Sunday 2 pm then Zeltenreich Reformed Church 2 30 pm with interment nearby. Viewing Saturday 7 to 9 pm.
Nathaniel Rambo eighty one died Monday at his home in Salisbury township near Honey Brook of a complication of diseases. He was a farmer and held church and fraternal memberships including Honey Brook Presbyterian, Howell Lodge No. 405 F and A M Reading Consistory and was a Thirty second degree Mason. He directed the First National Bank Honey Brook and is survived by granddaughter Mrs Cecil Lammey and great grandson Nathan Lammey who lived with him. Funeral services will be held at his Salisbury home Friday at 2 p m with interment in Honey Brook Presbyterian Cemetery.
Mrs Flora Cooper eighty nine? Actually fifty nine died at 12 15 p m Tuesday after a brief illness. She was daughter of George and Mary Yost and member of Zion Lutheran church Leacock. Survived by husband Newton S Cooper two sons Spencer and Robert one sister Cora Warfel five grandchildren. Private funeral from Bareville home Friday at 1 15 p m with public services at Zion Lutheran Church Leacock at 2 interment Carpenter's Cemetery.
Rhoda Brackbill Weinhold nine year old daughter of Daniel E and Lillie L Brackbill Weinhold of Lea cock died about 5 p m Monday after years of illness at home. Parents survive. Funeral Friday at 2 00 pm at the parents home. Interment at Heller's.

The American Legion Auxiliaries of Lancaster and Chester Counties host a Council Meeting on Tuesday March 14 at St Stephen Reformed Church in this borough. President Mrs Charles A Mentzer of New Holland and secretary Mrs George Bowman of Ephrata lead the gathering with talks on National Defense and child welfare plans including a garment show for needy veterans families. Music by the church quartet and luncheon by the Ladies Aid complete the program.
Miss Myrtle Rettew daughter of Mr and Mrs William Rettew of Ephrata and Lester Shreiner son of Mrs Alice M Shreiner of Ephrata were married at Salem Reformed church Hellers at 8 o clock Saturday morning Rev Fred D Pentz officiated. The couple will reside at the groom’s parents home after a short wedding trip through the southern states.
Miss Elizabeth H Cassel daughter of Rev Charles D Cassel and Mrs Cassel and Erwin R Groff son of Mr and Mrs Samuel L Groff wed Saturday evening at the bride’s home The ceremony was conducted by the bride’s father Attendants were Landis Groff Ruth Groff David H Cassel and Ruth Webber They will reside near Bareville.
Miss Frances B Zimmerman daughter of Mr and Mrs Amos Zimmerman of New Holland and William Z Martin Jr son of Mr and Mrs William Z Martin of New Holland were married at 7 oclock Saturday evening by Rev Wesley P Martin at his Akron home. The couple was attended by Caleb Stauffer and Elsie Mae Martin and will reside near New Holland.
Mr and Mrs Copper and Stain less Steel invite the public to tour their new home at 112 South Railroad Avenue known as Groff's Store. They will explain the advantages of the new combination and encourage people to see for themselves.
Rev. George W. Wilt of Trenton will lead the evening service at Trinity Lutheran Church on Sunday March 12 followed by a congregational meeting to elect a local pastor. Morning service will be led by Rev. J. C. Nicholas of Landsdale.

The Blue Ball Fire Company met in the fire hall with president D. W. Geist in charge. New members Arthur Musser Ralph Hart ranft Gilbert Hartranft Isaac H. Nolt Tobias Martin Edwin Martin Sam S. Good were elected. Officers nominated include Geist Witwer Oberholzer High Stauffer Horst and Witwer Zimmerman.
The Alpha Class of Bridgeville Evangelical Congregational Sunday School presents a musicale at Zion E C Church Bridgeville on Sunday evening March 12 at 7 30. The program includes vocal solos duets trios and quartettes plus piano banjo and guitar pieces. All are welcome to attend.
New Holland High School sends a delegation to the Columbia Scholastic Press Meet in New York City on March 10 and 11 with two prospective editors James Bachman and Joyce Hooker and adviser Martha Haverstick and Frieda Knepper. Leonard Levitt previously attended in 1985. The meet features floor talks, open discussion on newspaper makeup, and a final banquet announcing winners. The group plans to explore New York ahead of the event.
Miss Maude Evans entertained the Business and Professional Women's Club of New Holland at her Brimmer avenue home. After a brief business session the group studied investments from seven lessons in Fattening the Lean Purse. The evening featured St Patrick themed decor and green displays.
The New Holland Young Democratic Club will meet Monday night March 18 at 7 30 p m in the basement of the Farmers National Bank and Trust Company. All members are urged to be present.
