Rev C R Longenecker of Banon PA conference evangelist of the Hast Penn Conference will speak at Intercourse United Brethren church starting at 7 30 nightly through April 1. He is a former pastor of New Holland and Ranck s United Brethren churches and was named conference evangelist at the last annual meeting. Public invited.
A spelling bee will be held at Summitville School two and one half miles south of town on Friday March 9 at 730 p.m. Gene Wright's Hill Billy Band will provide music from Honey Brook. Admission ten cents for under twelve and fifteen cents for adults. Candy will be sold. Teachers are Florence Myers and Margaret Exsex.
The Bible School of the Intercourse United Brethren Church, taught by Mrs Ida Hoar, will stage a three act comedy Moonbeam with musical numbers between acts. The performance is set for Saturday evening March 10 at 7 45 in the Intercourse Lodge Hall.
The King's Daughters will hold their meeting on Tuesday March 13 at the home of Mrs Elizabeth Marks on East Main Street. Special features are planned and members are urged to be present.
Aboard a Panamanian passenger ship en route from Balboa to Los Angeles a fund of travel notes describes fellow travelers, coast ranges, and daily logs. The diarist records latitude, nautical miles run, religious services, and a plan to adjust ship clocks as the journey proceeds toward San Francisco.
Edward Bauer of Lancaster, with over six years in the county, is chosen by a 4 to 2 vote as special officer for the borough. He must move his family to a local residence and will be paid 90 dollars monthly, with a self supplied uniform. Endorsements come from County Detective Weller and ex-District Attorney S. V. Hosterman. the High Constable vacancy to be filled at the next council meeting.

It also mentions a 1924 social note and a bishop matter handled by Martin Mohler of Akron.
Mrs Mary Oberholtzer Nolt aged 65 died suddenly at 1 15 a m at her New Holland home after a brief illness of heart trouble. She leaves husband David G Nolt four children Annie Samuel Eli Norman fourteen grandchildren a sister Mrs Abraham Hoover and a brother Joseph Oberholtzer Services will be held at the home Saturday at 9 00 am and at 10 00 am at Groffdale Mennonite church with interment in the adjoining cemetery.
Peter C. Eckert seventy eight of Leola died at Lancaster General hospital at 12 30 AM from pneumonia after ten days illness. He was a contractor builder and funeral director for thirty years and belonged to Salem Reformed church Heller's Knights of Malta and Knights of the Mystic Chain No 126 Lancaster. Survived by son O R Eckert Leacock a daughter Elsie wife of Benjamin Hershey Leola three grandchildren a brother and two sisters Mrs Ella Hoover Lancaster Christian Eckert and Mrs Sallie Sheaffer Christiana. Services Sunday at 2 PM at his son's home Leola and 2 30 PM at Salem Reformed church Heller's Interment in adjoining cemetery. Friends may call Saturday 7 to 9 PM.
Mrs. Annie E. Rissler sixty two widow of Jacob W. Rissler died at her son Noah Rissler 2235 Brimmer avenue at 7 30 am Sunday after a lingering illness She was a Graffdale Mennonite and is survived by eight children including Noah John Jacob David Daniel Phares Eberly Clayton Zimmerman and Amos Martir a sister Mrs Ella Rucker a brother John Shelley and 31 grandchildren Funeral services were private
John Marks of Pennsylvania Power and Light spoke to Liberty Fire Company about high tension line dangers and cooperation in emergencies. Richard C. Heagy noted state fire legislation and invited all to the County Firemen’s Association banquet. Card party moved to March 31. meeting date set for March 30.
Caernarvon Fire Company announces a St Patrick's Day turkey dinner on Saturday March 17 at the Caernarvon fire hall in Churchtown. Committee chair George D Bair and members Daniel Evans Hensel Simpson Harry Hertzler William T Weaver organize a meal for a large crowd with 220 pounds of turkey three bushels of potatoes 40 quarts of ice cream and other food. A coffee demonstrator will serve guests. The hall will be green and the Churchtown Jug Band will entertain between servings.
The American Legion Card Party is scheduled at the Legion Home on Saturday at 8 p.m. Attendees from near and far are expected. Door and high score prizes will be offered. All are invited to attend.
The Women’s Missionary Association of Ranck’s Church will meet at the home of Mrs Taylor Gehman on Saturday afternoon. All members are urged to attend for officer elections and payment of annual dues.

Historic Salem Reformed Church at Haller's will be reconsecrated Sunday at 10. Rev. Fred D. Pentz and Rev. H. J. Hillegass will lead the service. The church was damaged by a fire last fall and a week of themed services continues through Thursday with sermons by local pastors and special music notices.
The second New Holland Bible Conference runs March 15 to 18 at Mennonite Brethren Church and United Brethren in Terre Hill. Rev. Isaac Page of Chicago, district secretary of the China Inland Mission, will teach. Services are at 7:30 p m except final Sunday at 2 45 p m. Local laymen organize the interdenominational event inviting all to attend.
The day of spring registration will be Wednesday March 14 1934 at Borough Hall from 10 a m to 3 p m and 6 p m to 9 p m for enrolling the politics of applicants by presenting enrollment certificates. Electors may change enrollment by filing a new certificate. New residents since last September and those who have come of age may register and enroll.
Constable I G Kochel notices a sale Saturday March 10 at 10 a m on the premises of David B Houck along Cedar Lane Station to Ranchs Church. The sale will dispose of household furniture taken for rent as the property of Charles Rowe.
Farley orders four day furloughs for Presidential postmasters and field staff with pay suspended for four days, railway clerks for three and a quarter days, and limited daily deliveries in New Holland. Leave with pay ends now except where costless, with unused leave rolling to 1935. Rural carriers kept, specific one delivery days listed for March through June.
