The family notes the death of J Henninger with private services from his late home on Wednesday afternoon and a public service at 2 o clock in New Holland U B Church. Interment followed in the adjoining cemetery with J Henninger in charge.
Jacob Hoover died at home Thursday morning after a short illness at age 75 years 3 months and 26 days. A retired farmer and respected community member, he is survived by many children including Mrs. Sensenig in Hinkletown and Benjamin F. in Reidenbach’s Store, plus several brothers and sisters. Further services and interment will be in the adjoining cemetery.
Mrs Ella M Ream wife of Aaron Ream died at her Cambridge home Saturday at midnight after a brief illness of neuralgia of the stomach She was 48 years old Survived by her husband a daughter Helen parents Mr and Mrs John Overly two brothers David Ardmore and Charles Narvon R D No 2 Funeral services were held Thursday morning at 10 30 private services at the home and public service at 11 in Mt Zion Church of which she was a member Burial in the adjoining cemetery J C Henninger of this borough in charge
The regular monthly meeting of the Lancaster County Tobacco Growers Association will be held in the Farm Bureau Wool Worth building Lancaster Pa on Monday March 12 1928 at 2 p m. Fertilizers is the topic to be discussed by Prof Nicholas Schmidt of State College Pa. All interested are cordially invited.
A.B. Church held its monthly meeting on Tuesday at 4 00 p m with the eye on attendance and a full membership update. Officers for the year were elected: Alta Groff as Vice President Alta Russell as Secretary Edna Stauffer as Treasurer Blanche Louigenecker as Thank Offering Secretary Edith Richwine as Secretary of Literature and Fanny Oehmer along with Grace Groff named as solicitors.
Sunday School reached peak attendance with 41 in the Men’s Bible Class and 87 in the Ladies’ Bible Class. Dr. Green lectured on Loyalty at Lancaster YMCA. midweek service featured Rev Swartz. Next Sunday schedule includes 9:30 a.m. Sunday School and 10:30 a.m. worship with Luther League at 6:30 p.m. and vesper at 7:30 p.m. District President M B Angstat visited the Luther League. Special features promised each Sunday night.

Harris Bros and Company of New Holland announces the addition of a fine new spring millinery department. The firm will offer better sort hats and accessories with a nice display for patrons. Ladies are invited to come in and view the selections at agreeable prices.
A private sale offers a frame house and frame stable with 6 acres and 95 perches of land in East Earl township near Center Church. Bidders may contact M. G. Weaver & Son of New Holland, Pennsylvania for details.

The Hollow School announces a spelling bee with prizes and a prize of 2.30 gold place. Pupils and teachers prepare, and refreshments will be sold during the event.
A minister argues that two mules outrun a twenty two horsepower gasoline wagon after his vehicle stuck in mud near Hess Mill. The auto could not complete the journey, but the mules pulled it to dry land and the minister resumed travel.
Sam Plotnick announces he has bought a yard and warehouse on Prospect Street in New Holland borough near Musselman Concrete Pipe Co plant. After April first he will receive junk of all kinds and continues his current gathering. He hopes to relocate his family to the borough if a residence can be secured.
A water main leak in front of the New Holland House caused a flood over four inches in the basement and cellar. Workmen dug three holes to locate the leak, but a snow storm halted efforts and water continued seeping inside, threatening the furnace.
Slight fire of unknown origin destroyed a bamboo sun shade and small roof section at 341 East Main Street in this borough. Discovered after eight o clock, the blaze was controlled by bystanders before the local fire company arrived. damage described as slight.

Mrs. Aaron Hooker of New Holland celebrated her 64th birthday on Monday with a pleasant surprise. A waffle dinner followed and a quilting party filled the day, attended by Mrs. Jacob Hoober and others including Hattie Emma Mary and Louis Hoober, plus Charles and Roy Hoober.
The March meeting convened Tuesday at 9:30 in the Reformed parsonage study. Dr. H. V. Givler presented The Permanent in Religion, with Rev. E. L. Leisey, Rev. H. A. Swartz, and Rev. C. G. Bachman in attendance.

Mr and Mrs Harry Stauffer hosted a turkey dinner Sunday at their East Main Street home. Guests included Eling and Mildred Stauffer and Almeda Stauffer from Bear town, Annie Woomert, Mrs Harry Grube from Philadelphia, John Stauffer from Goodville, and Edgar Getz with Marguerite from East Earl.
Miss Bess Gilfillan entertained a group of friends for a cards afternoon at her Brimmer avenue home. Guests included Mrs. Samuel Slocum Mrs. Samuel Keen Mrs. Walter Russell Mrs. Morris Brinton and others from Christiana Quarryville and town.
William Duncan endured a 36 hour on location shoot for the Vitagraph film When Danger Smiles near Calabasas California. The crew slept whenever possible while Duncan remained active through the long vigil and coffee breaks between scenes.
On March 2 the Young Men's Class hosted the Willing Workers Class in the church social rooms. A fine program by the men revealed musical talent, games and contests followed by a luncheon in the Primary room served by the men. Room decor reflected class colors and there was friendly rivalry to boost ladies’ attendance before Easter.
The alterations to the Sam Rubinson store occupy the TyER House property and are moving quickly. Completion is expected within a few days allowing two large rooms on the second floor to display a larger stock of goods.
Our new stocks of spring furnishings are nearly complete and rival city stores in most lines. An extra fine stock of ladies and gents furnishings hats cap shoes oxfords shirts collars and ties and a complete line of notions. Special invitation to all to come in and inspect selections while each lot is complete.
The United Brethren Church Choir invites the public to a Box Social at Wright's Bakery on Friday evening March 16 1928 at 7 30. Proceeds go to the building fund. Ladies are asked to bring a lunch in a box for two.
Tobacco farmers are offered three cents per pound for good clean tobacco free of dirt dirt junk and trash. The buyers A B Groff & Sons of New Holland Pennsylvania also purchase fillers and pay on Saturdays.
At a Lancaster County League meeting eight towns submitted franchise applications New Holland Terre Hill Columbia Mountville Quarryville Rohrerstown Adamstown and Denver. A $100 forfeit and a $50 salary cap for games were approved after a 4-4 vote. A three member committee was named to prepare officer nominations for the next Langaster meeting.
The Bear's Cemetery Association adopted memorial resolutions on the death of Aaron H. Bear who died on March 4 1928 at his home on Brimmer Avenue New Holland Lancaster County Pa The resolutions express humble submission to God sorrow for the loss and sympathy for his wife and children and request publication in the Clarion and a family copy to be sent to them
Miss Bertha E Caldwell daughter of Mr and Mrs William Caldwell of near Intercourse wed Mr Harry W Hamilton of Kinzer at Trinity Lutheran church. Rev E L Lessey officiated and a host of friends offered congratulations and best wishes.
W D Kling of Intercourse Pa sold at private sale for the Samuel Fogle Estate a double brick house on Bridge Street Christiana to Ellis Oatman of Christiana. Oatman will take possession April 1 1923. Harris Bros Company advertises spring suits for men and boys with emphasis on quality and style.
The pupils of Wenger's School near Martin's Mill will hold a spelling bee on Thursday evening March 15.
Mrs Mary C Weaver of Jackson street visited her son and family in Beartown. Mrs Roy Brubaker stayed with her parents in Terre Hill. Mrs Susan Shirk visited her brother Cyrus Bowers in Bareville. Mrs Anna Wentz of Philadelphia visited her son P R Wentz and family. William Bair returned home after time in Atlantic City and Philadelphia. Esther Martin of near Terre Hill visited her sister Mrs Edwin G Stauffer. Mrs Edgar Beck of Lancaster visited her parents. Rev C R Longenecker spent a day in Lebanon visiting Breneman and Mrs William Ulrich who are on the sick list. Mrs Edwin G Stauffer and daughter Kathleen visited in town with her parents. Mr and Mrs John Denlinger and son Daniel visited in town. Multiple locals hosted and visited neighbors and relatives across Gap, Quarryville, Morgantown, East Earl, Goodville, Vintage, Honey Brook and Lancaster.
