Second Storm Causes Flood Damage Across Counties

A heavy Friday rainstorm caused widespread flooding from Conestoga to Pequea and beyond. Bridges swept away, dam breaches damaged mills and barns, and farm losses mounted as towns like Hinkletown and Stumptown faced high water. Death of Warren F. Stansbury in Wrightaville at Twenty Two

Warren F. Stansbury of Martin's Corner Chester County died Thursday morning at Wrightaville from pneumonia after a six week illness. He was twenty two and a moulder by trade employed in Wrightaville. Survived by his parents William and Sue Stansbury and two brothers. Funeral Monday morning with services at MM E church and Rawlinsville where interment will follow.

Court orders Bitzer to pay restitution and six months imprisonment

The court sentences Bitzer to pay $100 restitution and a six month imprisonment term. The defendant’s counsel joined the proceedings, finalizing the judgment and sentence.

Postoffice Substation Plan Directed by Department

Postmaster Miller of Lancaster is directed by the department to establish a substation at the corner of Chestnut and Martin. The new station is numbered as 45 and will serve the Lancaster area.

Snow Storm Paralyzes Roads Rail Lines and City Transit

A deep late winter snowstorm halts travel across the region with eight to fifteen inches blanketing roads. Rail service on the Downingtown and Conestoga lines is delayed. trolleys stall, tracks drifted, and crews work to clear routes amid frozen mud and cold winds.

Another Smallpox Tramp Comes to the County Hospital

Michael Taylor a laborer working around the county applied at the county hospital at noon Monday for treatment and is now housed in the pest house. Dr Alexander the resident physician found mild smallpox in its first stage and not a serious case. Taylor worked near Neffsville Lincoln and Ephram and had slept in barns.

Freightened by a Trolley Car in Shippensburg

A Shippensburg salesman driving through the borough was startled when a Lo clack trolley approached near Dr. D W Harner's residence. The horse bolted, toppled a telephone pole, and broke the harness before galloping toward Groft's push store. Only the single tree and harness suffered damage.

Lancaster donor endows General Hospital with gift

A Lancaster gentleman, who prefers anonymity, has given 93 000 to the General Hospital and promises to add 82 000 soon to fully endow a free bed.

Postponed Sale Of Estate Goods In Blue Ball District

Postponed sale of live stock farming implements and cattle of the estate of Bi Martin deceased, originally set near Blue Ball, has been moved to Monday March 10 due to a snow storm. Local notice confirms the new sale date and location.
