New Holland defeated Olympia Club of York on Memorial Day in a grandstand game at the local diamond. Weaver pitched a no hit no run win with 12 strikeouts as New Holland won 1-0, while the locals’ fielding limited York’s offense. The crowd and visiting players praised the umpire and town. Old Turtle Shell Carvings Resurface in Berks County Farm
A carved turtle shell with the initials D W 1796 reappeared on James Wiest’s farm in Oley township Berks County. The marks belong to Daniel Wiest grandson of Daniel Wiest the first settler who migrated from Bonneville Herbein. The final touching was performed by James Wiest last week.

Two Women Killed in Irishtown Crossing Train Collision
The Pittsburg Express bound west struck a carriage at Irishtown crossing near Banks and Gordonville on Monday around 1 PM. Victims were Mrs Elizabeth Leaman Mrs Phares Buckwalter and her daughter Lila Buckwalter. Lila and Mrs Buckwalter were killed. Mrs Leaman survived in a precarious condition in a Lancaster hospital. The three were en route to visit Elmer D Seaman in Banks. Funeral for the victims drew over 2500 mourners.
