A reminiscence contrasts modern cattle transport by huge trucks with half a century ago when drovers earned 25 cents and used two boys to drive cattle between inns and stables. Local youths from Blue Ball and Churchtown moved herds toward Morgantown, House's Store, and Long's Corner.
Millard M. Tawney of Harrisburg and Rev. Harold C. Koch of Mount Joy will speak at the Lancaster County Firemen Association meeting in Mt. Joy borough hall. Burgess John H. Keener will give the welcome, with R. C. Heagy in charge of sessions and reports by J. Harry Grube and others.
Earl H. Nissley of Lancaster died after slipping under a municipal airport truck at Kissel Hill. He had just returned to work after illness on his first day back. Deputy coroner Richard Potts released details noting a skull fracture and internal injuries. the driver was exonerated.

Peter Y Foltz eighty one of Terre Hill died at his home Tuesday evening from complications. He is survived by two sons a brother a sister three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at his home Saturday at 1 30 p m and at 2 p m from the Mennonite Brethren in Christchurch with burial in Terre Hill cemetery.
Elam Yunginger fifty two of Lea cock died Sunday morning at 9 35 in Lancaster General Hospital after an eleven week illness of complications. He is survived by his wife Edna Harting Yunginger three children Melvin Wellington and Gladys his mother Mrs Emma Yunginger Lancaster and many siblings. Private services were held at home and at Longenecker's Reformed Mennonite Church with interment in the adjoining cemetery.

Franklin Schell led a group of wealthy excursionists from the Union Irrigating Company to the southland, with participants from New Holland area. Hiram Overly, a Monterey carpenter, fell from a barn roof in Talmage and died days later at age 54. The seventh annual Ranck family reunion will be held at Lititz Springs Park Lititz on August 2 with a luncheon at 1130 AM and a program including songs, addresses by George S Ranck Parke Ranck and Rev G Hertzler, memorials and prize awards followed by games. Officers and committee members from New Holland Bareville Honey Brook Lititz Paradise Seaman Place and other areas are listed.
United States post offices are advised not to accept packages mailed to Germany with charges to be collected on delivery. Regular parcel post and registered mail to Germany continue without interruption except for C O D. A new government charge applies to money orders with a deduction from the payee when cashing the order equal to the money order cost to the issuer.

Severe electrical storms swept Lancaster county causing damage across farms and homes. Lightning struck the Reliable Lumber and Planing Mill, starting a fire near the motor. crews battled the blaze through windows and by roof gables, with losses estimated at 2500 to 3000 dollars. Other strikes damaged radio wiring at a home, a roof was blown off a bareville house, and several barns burned or threatened, prompting multiple fire companies to respond and save nearby structures.
Carl Laderach of Banks spoke on Swiss cheese history and methods at the Lancaster County plant near Groffdale. Dr. Arnold Zwally and Ivan Lowry discussed related topics while club leaders outlined plans for blind services and a sick committee. A Farmers Day field meet proposal was debated for a future gathering.
Mr and Mrs Jacob Mayer Mrs J P Krauss and Miss Mary E Banzhof of Lancaster visited John H Musser and family last Saturday. Visitors from Strasburg included Mr and Mrs Benjamin Yunginger Jacob Yunginger and Miss Elizabeth Musselman. Others from nearby towns spent time with the Musser family and a funeral of Elam Yunginger at Longenecker s church was attended by several women including Mrs J H Musser and Mrs C Wanner.

Farmersville notes report Mr. and Mrs. Ira Simmons and family and Mr. and Mrs. Chester Swertzart spent the weekend in Franklin county. Isaac Burkholder of Carlisle visits his sister Mrs. Maria Stauffer. Mr. and Mrs. William Mink and son Leonard visited Mrs. F. C. Barshow and family of Brooklyn New York, spending five days in Brooklyn and New York City.
Descendants of Elder Joseph Myer of Upper Leacock township plan the second reunion on Sunday August 26 at Monterey Church of the Brethren. Morning services begin at 10:30, followed by luncheon and social hour. The program starts at 2 o'clock with clan members in charge and games for children.
William R. Good and William H. Good of New Holland R 3 register to trade as William R. Good and Son. They will operate as feed dealers in East Earl and Ephrata.
On Sunday morning at 8 o'clock Miss Phoebe Huey daughter of Mrs Elsie Huey Schuylkill Haven and Frank Hummel son of Mr and Mrs Daniel T Hummel Pine Grove were married in the United Brethren church by Rev Frank C Aings uncle of the groom. The bride was attended by Miss Margaret Hummel sister of the groom. Mr Wm Sauizahn brother in law of the bride was best man. The ring ceremony was used and immediate family were present.
A local notice records a family ceremony with Mr and Mrs Jacob Keener and Mrs B OF F Pragiech. at Belar Md. on a Tuesday afternoon. Moss Rachel and Tra Shik are named in the readable fragments.
Mr and Mrs Wallam J Edgar of Fort Monroe Virginia announce the marriage of their son William J Edgar to Miss Mary E Secor of Beulaville North Carolina. The ceremony was held July 12 at Phoebus Virginia. The groom works in the Fort Monroe printing department and the couple plan to reside in Phoebus.
The marriage of Miss Mary E. Hickey and Roger C. Lincoln was held July 18 at West Grove with Rev Edward F. Kelly officiating. The bride, cousin Dorothy Hickey as bridesmaid, and brother Thomas Hickey as best man were present. Mrs. Lincoln, a West Chester State Normal School graduate, has taught at New London High School and Boothwyn Consolidated School.
