He claimed payment for two weeks salary as a cigar salesman. The checks were cashed at Central National Bank, Columbia, then returned as the company did not exist.
John F. Girvin of Upper Leacock township died after a Tuesday fall from a second floor stairway. Dr G W Riziard treated him. he died at 12 36 Wednesday morning. Born April 24 1865 in East Lampton township he was 71. Survived by wife Mary Weaver and children Edna Witke Willis Herr Willis G Girvin Robert W, plus a brother Daniel and sister Salina. Funeral held at home then Longenecker's church with interment in the adjoining cemetery.
The New Holland Union announces its annual Sunday School picnic set for Saturday August 23 on Mill Creek at Hooker's Mill dam head. Four local schools join in with Zeltenreich and Mt. Tabor providing a full day of amusements. Lancaster City Band will supply music for a day expected to be larger than previous years.
