Poultrymen from Lancaster and Lebanon counties plan a July 26 meeting at Frystown Fire Hall to discuss stabilizing egg prices. Ralph E. Hartenstine of the New Holland Egg Auction will speak on care handling and marketing eggs.
The Young Men's Republican Club of New Holland met with 25 members. Picnic committee head Clayton Harvestestick announced a picnic on Wednesday August 2 at Overly's Grove at 1 00 PM. A Republican Womans Club with 33 members was reported. Next meeting is August 21.
Ranck's United Brethren church led by Rev. F. C. Aungst hosts an Anniversary Day Service on Sunday August 13 with Dr. S C Enck as speaker. A week of Wood's Meetings follows at Overly's Grove August 14 to 20 with visiting speakers and nightly music.
The Good Shepherd's Bible Class of Bridgeville Evangelical Concord Church will sponsor a hillside service at the A. G. Boley farm on Sunday July 28 at 630 pm. Special music will be provided by the Simpson Quartet of Birdsboro.
The fifth Lancaster County Championship Shoot will be held at the New Holland Rod and Gun Club on Saturday July 29 at 12 30 p m. It is a 16 yard 100 target event with a silver four piece trophy for the county shooters and other events may follow. T Clarence Marshall of Yorklyn Delaware and his son plan to attend as president of the National Amateur Trap Shooting Association.
Mrs. Emmaline Steffy, 77, wandered the Silver Hill Narvon area for three days while her family and a 100-strong search party including State Police and a Bellefonte bloodhound looked for her. She returned uninjured tired and hungry.
A correction notes last week's item mis-stated the venue for the Ralph Overly Quartette gospel program. The correct location is the Pequea E C church on August 6.
The District Luther League will hold an outdoor gathering at 8:00 p m on July 23 at the Kissel Hill Lutheran church.

Harry J Besore improved the town pump with a new iron trough and six coats of paint, the editor claiming the pump will serve for a century. Sixteen Lancaster ladies reportedly ride bicycles, described as a curiosity shown in a tent. A flood on May 31 is mentioned as news from fifty years ago, with speed not a trait of that era. A local grocer advertises four pounds of cheese for twenty five cents claiming its value is eight cents per pound. Fashion notes from Godeys Lady's Book for August are copied with minimal comment.

Mrs Hannah L Englerth 83 widow of Daniel Englerth of Narvon R 2 died at 10 p m Wednesday at her home. Survived by children Annie Fisher Elverson R 1 Harry Cora wife Hayes Walton Coatesville R 2 William Ella wife West Burkey Gap R 2 Blanche wife Isaac McCammant Gap R 2 Chester at home. Forty six grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services set for Saturday at 1 p m.
Mrs. Aaron Lapp and her four children of Gordonville R 1 near Hollow School were partly thrown from their wagon Monday at 5 p m as their unmanageable horse collided with a cattle truck on South Railroad avenue. The wagon overturned, the horse fell, and Mrs Lapp with Samuel 12 Ephraim 9 and Aaron 2 were treated for shock and brush burns by Dr P R Wentz. Sarah 3 escaped uninjured.
The Burgess and Special Officer Sparks urge full public cooperation with the new 85 mile per hour speed limit signs. Officials warn motor law will be strictly enforced to protect borough residents, especially children.

The local School Board announces two new teachers for New Holland schools for the coming year. Lamar K. Blass of Aristes, Columbia County, chosen as athletic coach and mathematics teacher, is a Bloomsburg State Teachers College graduate and former Catawissa High School teacher. He fills the position left by Stewart J. Barthold. Marion B. Hogeland, near Philadelphia, will be 88 commercial teacher, replacing Miss Violetta R. Diehm. She is a Temple University graduate.
Announcement from the Sauder company stating they are now equipped to do all kinds of custom grinding and mixing of feeds at their new mill in New Holland. The message emphasizes expanded production capabilities and local service.
Bishop John M. Lauder aged 75 of Goodville died after falling from a stepladder while dusting grape vines with lime in his yard. The cervical vertebra fracture was ruled accidental death by deputy coroner Dr. A. E. Martin. Interment is planned at Goodville Mennonite cemetery after funeral at Weaverland Mennonite church.
Miss Caroline Catharine Blair daughter of Mr and Mrs J D S Blair Gordonville and Walter Ernst Stalder son of Mrs Bertha Stalder Spiez Switzerland were married Saturday morning at 10 in Trinity Lutheran church New Holland Rev George W Wilt officiated. Attendants were Dr and Mrs Clyde Stein. The couple will reside on North Custer Avenue New Holland after a wedding breakfast with family and a honeymoon trip to the New England States.
John Ivan Burkhart and Kathryn Roth were married Saturday evening in a ring ceremony at Rev. A W Leibensperger’s home in Ephrata. Attendants were Edward C Roth Jr and Iona Witwer.
A local fishing party last Sunday in Delaware Bay at Lewes Delaware caught 456 porgies and croakers. Participants included Mr and Mrs Carol Kling Mr and Mrs Paul Raub Mr and Mrs Jack Mentzer from Spring Garden Fred Ranch Judy Rohrer Lancaster Parke Hershey Marie Hollinger Witmer Amos Seldomridge and Alma Hershey from Lancaster.
Plans are under way for a Methodist Sunday School picnic to be held Saturday July 29 at Hinkle town. The group will leave the church at 1 oclock and share a meal at 5 30 from one big family table. Members and friends are urged to attend for a happy get together.

Among recent visitors to New England former town resident Walter Staver aged ninety five, once a lawyer and local boy who made good in Illinois, traveled with son John Stager to historic sites including St Stephen Return ed church and cemetery where family noted. Other locals, including Henry Stahy family and Pitman Pa visitors, visited Rev W A Kutz at Knodel Park and shared time with Washington D C trip participants.
The Woman's Christian Temperance Union met at Miss Alta Diller's home on Tuesday afternoon with Mrs. C E Franke leading worship. Members offered prayers, shared sentiments, and discussed current events after a reading titled Prejudice. The next meeting is set for the last Tuesday in August.
