Terre Hill Girl 11 Dies From Barn Accident
Mary M. Horst eleven year old daughter of Mr and Mrs George Horst near Terre Hill died at Lancaster General Hospital from a fractured skull caused by a fall while sliding down a hay hole in her father's barn. She had been unconscious since the accident. Deputy Coroner B Y Plank ruled the death accidental. Survived by her parents and six siblings Ervin Eli Anna Lizzie Milton and Frances. Funeral services were held at Weaverland Mennonite church with private services at 1 pm and public at 2 pm. Burial followed.

Union Picnic Planned for August Eleven in Overly's Grove
The eighteenth annual Sunday School picnic is set for August 11 at Overly's Grove south of the borough. Cooperating churches include St Stephen Reformed, Trinity Lutheran, Methodist Episcopal, United Brethren, Ranck's United Brethren, Mt Tabor United Brethren, and Zeltenreich Reformed. Events run all day with concerts by the Boys Band of New Holland, games, contests, bathing facilities, lifeguards, a first aid station, and a refreshment stand offering ice cream, drinks, sandwiches, fruit, and candies.

Lightning Injures Homes Farms in Lancaster County Storms
A Sunday night lightning storm caused widespread damage in eastern and northern Lancaster County. A bolt hit a Churchtown chimney, damaged a Duttenhofer residence and telephone wires, and scorched a cement walk. Three cows died after a bolt struck Zartman’s meadow near Schoeneck. Churches at Schoeneck and a Reinholds factory were struck. A barn on Lizzie Widders’ farm near Middle Creek was destroyed, with live stock saved. An eight thousand dollar barn fire struck James Long’s farm north of Schoeneck.
