Mrs Sofie Weiner wife of Levi Weaver, interment to be conducted in Henbinger by Weenerland undertakers. Obituary fragment notes residence in this borough and funeral arrangements pending.
Mrs Lucy Gibson widow of Alexander Gibson of Leacock Lancaster County died Monday at 10 AM from complications of diseases after a lingering illness. Survived by sister Mrs Salinda Givier Leacock and sister Mrs Rebecca Miller of Lancaster, and ten grandchildren. Funeral from daughter Mrs Reuben Buckenstes Leacock Thursday at 10, private service at 6:30 in Zion Lutheran Church where she was a member. Burial to follow.

Mt Zion Degree Team of Ephrata and Temple No 164 welcomed eight new members into the Ladies of the Golden Eagle in the borough. The Mt Zion degree team from Ephrata Temple No 134 conferred the degree and a night lunch followed at Bairs Restaurant. A larger class is planned soon.

The formal opening of the new play center will take place Friday evening July 27 from 7:00 to 9:00. A band will perform and refreshments will be served for all children and their parents. New equipment planned includes nine swings an 80 foot camel pack slide and a large pee haw. The playgrounds committee adds P A Schaub Evelyn Rosehoro and Miss Bess Gilets to its ranks and an order bans Sunday use of the playgrounds.
Union Picnic Association advances plans for a large picnic with potential to be the biggest yet. Committees secure playground equipment from Community Civic Club and authorize purchase of boards and trestles to resolve table shortages. Amusement program under development and Booster issue set to debut next week.
A bakery employee riding a horse at Moncnete crossing near the Wright barn fell when the animal balked at a turn. The horse and rider collided with a concrete crossing injuring the man's right eye and spraining his ankle. Medical treatment followed and he remained briefly disabled.
At a Union Sunday School Picnic Association meeting in the Methodist Church on July 16 a motion authorized the transportation committee to solicit bids from interested parties to move people to and from the Mill Creek Picnic Grounds on Saturday August 11. Bids must be submitted by July 28 to Paul Esben shade or Charles Zwally. the lowest bid will win the association’s support.
Tuesday afternoon John Wagner son of Mr and Mrs Roy Wagner residing East Main Street injured his right arm and hand in a garage fall. Dr P R Wentz was summoned and treated the wound, which required closing.
The Clarion invites letters and essays on what effect condition of New Indiana’s Main Street has on business. A $5 prize for best essay is offered and a weekly contest will run with published responses. Also notes a class picnic at Longs Park with a bus trip and meals.

Amos H. Hershey of the Community Sales Company announces there will be no large sale this month. The event will resume next month and be held on the last Saturday of each month thereafter.
Citizens are invited to visit the public school grounds to see the playground equipment installed by the Civic Club. New shrubs benches and a sand pit have arrived and a program with band music will inaugurate the opening. Plans exist to light the grounds for evening use with guardians present.
The Junior Chautauqua Club of New Hollandcollects money through Treasure Bags to support a suitable town playground. Miss Evelyn Roseboro leads the drive with homes receiving bags. funds go to the Playgrounds Committee, and receipts exceed expectations as the campaign continues through Saturday.
The Willing Workers Class of St. Stephen Sunday School spends weeks along the Conestoga near Martindale living by the creek. They enjoy swimming boating and fishing and have entertained many visitors since the start of their stay. Usher Chase and others were invited to spend a Sunday afternoon as guests of the young ladies.
Borough officials sought state aid to rebuild Main Street with an estimated cost of 37384 dollars. The State Highway Department outlined options and requested immediate council action on funding shares, indicating a ten percent borough contribution if macadam work proceeded.
The Health Circle meetings at Liberty Fire Hall each Tuesday attract more mothers focused on safeguarding preschool health during summer. Miss Tapper from Columbia University spoke again and Dr. Witm County Medical Inspector will attend soon, with dates to be announced. A local physician will speak at each meeting while all preschool children will be released from school tasks.
