The borough schools plan to open on the list of August for all six year olds and those turning six. No new beginners after the second week of school. Children lacking vaccination should receive it now to have healed arms by opening day.
Joint Picnic at Centre Square Grove
Evangelical and United Sunday school groups host a joint picnic in J. R. Ranck’s grove at Centre Square along the Lancaster and Ephrata trolley line this Saturday July 18. Beck's Concert Band from Lititz supplies music. A free supper will be served and all are invited. The event is a well attended community gathering with convenient location.

The death roll lists Israel Eberly of Lincoln Nebraska and Moses Stein, a Lionville farmer, among others. Survivors include several children and a brother. Services were held at Indian Town Mennonite Church and Grove Church, with interments in local cemeteries.
Woman Sues Husband For Seven Years Wages
Mrs. Louisa Marburger sues Mahlon H. Marburger of Reading to recover 5460 wages she says she earned during seven years of marriage. She alleges her husband drew and.used the entire amount for the family without consent and has not accounted for or repaid it. She states she worked in a woolen mill earning 310 to 15 a week plus extra after hours.

John Renninger on a southern farm installed an onsite electric light and power plant. The 16 by 12 by 2 foot building houses a water wheel driven generator, powering lighting from cellar to attic and running a corn sheller a high speed wash and ironing. He showcases the system to visitors on his broad acres.

Destructive Thunderstorms Hit Lancaster County Farms
A severe late week storm swept Lancaster and Lebanon counties with hail and heavy rain. Manheim and Marietta suffered major crop and property damage including burned barns, flooded fields, toppled trees, ruined wheat and corn, and livestock losses. A second storm caused further damage near Denryn and White Oak with electrical fires and washed tobacco fields.

Drowned Boy at Local Swimming Hole
Raymond Miller sixteen year old son of Mr and Mrs Aaron Miller drowned at a Chickies Creek swimming hole near White Oak after diving head first into eight to ten foot deep water. Deputy Coroner J B Stroh ruled accidental drowning. He is survived by his parents and several siblings.
