Groundhog Mistakenly Shot Man Near McCall's Ferry
Henry Zercher, young resident of South Ninth Street Columbia, narrowly escaped death when a hunter aiming at a groundhog near McCall's Ferry fired and struck him in the back neck and head. Forty two shotgun pellets lodged in his body, some deep, with no removal attempted. He was taken to the railroad station and then home for care after a doctor’s examination.

Two Ladies Injured In Auto Accident Near Quarryville
Miss Elizabeth Barley and Miss Mary Witmer of Strasburg suffered injuries Saturday evening when a car returning from a Mount Eden Lutheran church festival crashed into a piling on Valley road east of Quarryville. Barley was taken to Lancaster General Hospital with cut arteries and muscles, Witmer with a broken collar bone remained at Dr. Steele's home before going home.
