The Cubs present a community circus at Communi ty Park on Thursday July 25 at 6:00 PM. Old time side shows and a three ring performance are planned. Merit badges will be awarded to Cubs by parents. Admission is free. community attendance decides success.
The Young Men's Business League hosts its annual picnic on Tuesday July 16 at the Community Pool Picnic Grounds. Members should bring lunches with spoons bowls and cups. Chicken corn soup and coffee provided, 6 30 p m festive board to begin, with families planning a day at the pool. A brief directors meeting follows and the regular business meeting is canceled for this event.
Two Horseshoe Line buses depart Sunday July 14 with pickups at Elverson Morgantown Churchtown Goodville Blue Ball and Terre Hill. Round trip tickets cost 1.50 each and may be bought at local stores. Buses return from Hershey Park at 9:00 a.m.

Twenty two Girl Scouts from New Holland Intermediate troop completed two weeks of training at Camp Welshova with a Scout's Own program on Sunday afternoon July 7. Miss E Elizabeth Groff directed the program. visitors viewed crafts including chip carved boxes, neckerchiefs, terrariums, pottery, leathercraft and wood carving.
Earl Lodge No 413 I O C F schedules a softball game with Honey Brook Lodge this Friday at 7 00 PM on the High School diamond. Local Community League regulars join a new lineup to face an outside team with post game meeting and refreshments planned.

Mrs. Margaret M. Rutt seventy six of Blue Ball widow of George O. Rutt died at 8 a m Wednesday after a lingering illness. Born in Earl township she was a daughter of Edward and Angeline Brenneman Line and a Cedar Grove Presbyterian Church member. Survived by sister Ella Ludwig and brother Theodore Line both of Denver and a grandson. Services at Weaverland Mennonite Church at 2 o clock Saturday after viewing Friday 7 to 9 at Blue Ball home. Interment in adjoining cemetery.
John L. Cochran fifty seven of 481 Knorr Street Philadelphia was instantly killed by a train at Cheltenham near his home on June 27 He had suffered a nervous breakdown last October He was a World War I veteran who moved to Philadelphia after returning from France in 1919 He taught in Upper Leacock Township public schools and served as township assessor He was buried in Philadelphia on Saturday

The New Holland Men’s Republican Club will screen films showing the national government and the duties of municipal officials. President Sherman Steffy announces a local quartet will perform. The refreshment committee plans food, and the club picnic is slated for Wednesday July 24 with county and party officials expected to attend, including Paul W Dague of Downingtown, a U S House candidate.
Lloyd G. Hoover welcomes his Irish war bride Mrs Eileen Hoover and their eight month old son Desmond to New Holland after a long delay due to illness and transportation troubles. They arrived June 29 in New York aboard the John Ericcoon with 459 others. Desmond, formerly ill with pneumonia, survived after three weeks of critical condition. The couple met in Amagh while Lloyd served with the Eighth Infantry Division. Mrs Hoover, from Sixmilecross Tyrone, studied in Omagh Academy. Lloyd, New Holland High School 1937 graduate, attended Elizabethtown College and served in WWII including Normandy and Luxembourg, discharged Oct 1945. They reside with his parents, Lloyd employed by Vanity Fair Stocking Co.
Miss Kathryn Roger Vogel and Louis Sabin Meyer were married in St. Pauls Evangelical and Reformed Church Lancaster in a 11 a m ceremony. Dr A A Alspach presided. The bride wore a colonial style marquisette gown with lace veil and white roses. Attendants included Miss June Daniels and Mrs Richard Vogel in lime gowns with rosettes.
A large frame barn and the season’s crops on Phares M. Zimmerman’s East Earl farm were destroyed by a fire of undetermined origin at 3 30 a m. The loss is estimated at 20 000 to 25 000 and is insured. Noah Zimmerman woke to sound the alarm as fire companies from Blue Ball Terre Hill Goodville and New Holland fought the blaze saving nearby buildings. The 80 by 46 foot barn contained hay straw and wheat that were recently harvested and stored in bales. Two tractors and two wagons were reportedly lost.
Excavation has begun to enlarge the Meyer Zausner cheese plant to about 240 by 192 feet. The first section will be 40 by 192 feet with a two story portion for 300 HP boilers and a 130 foot stack, plus compressor and maintenance rooms. The project includes a salvage whey system, an 80 by 80 foot packing room, and a 100 by 100 foot freezer and cooler area.

Mrs. Charles Yost described a pleasant trip to Narberth Home for the Aged. Guests praised the footstuffs and donations. August Sympathy Committees were named for West New Holland and East New Holland.
New Holland and nearby Lions Clubs may ride by chartered bus to the Lions International Convention in Philadelphia on Monday night July 15. Bus departs New Holland Legion Home at 7 p.m. round trip fare is 2.00 dollars. Tickets available at Weaver Jewelry Store through Saturday noon. Ladies invited.
The New Holland Lions Club met in the Legion Home with Clyde L Brackin as president. The board backed buying braille writers for the blind and named a golf tournament committee. A flag gong and gavel purchase was referred to a three member committee. The club selects plans for Farm Show participation and schedules a clam bake for August.
The Liberty Fire Company met in July with Herbert T. Randon presiding. New members Raymond Geist Dr W H Rogers Edward Mersky and Russell Charles were elected. The group authorized buying a Mack type 45 500 gallon pumper 120 horsepower and will have a Mack rep at the next meeting. They will reimburse members attending Lancaster County Fire Training School. An East Main Street tract including two houses was authorized for Memorial Center at a price of 10000 dollars.
