Effective July 1, the borough becomes the smallest in Lancaster County to earn the designation. Postmaster Wilford G. Stauffer notes expanded services and staff as janitor service begins soon.
George C. Delp president of New Holland Machine Company congratulates the community on achieving a first-class post office. He says the honor signals New Holland's growth and that all community sectors are keeping pace with larger cities.

Nine Lancaster county boys join about 600 youths at the Keystone Boys State Camp sponsored by the American Legion. Enoch Frankhouser and Donald Oberholzer of New Holland are in the Lancaster group. The eleven day camp allocates barracks housing and electing a local and state government structure. Tom E. Williams of Wilkes Barre is named director, with Brigadier General Frank A. Weber as camp chairman and State Adjutant General. Thirty Legionnaires from high schools will serve as instructors.
Mrs Annie R Storey aged 70 widow of Lorenzo Storey of 952 East Orange Street former Honey Brook resident died at 7 pm Monday after a two year illness in St Josephs Hospital. She was born in Berks County daughter of Samuel and the late Mrs Weaver and survived by six daughters Mary E New York City Edna M Lancaster Rachel G Hamerton Edith V New Holland Cora I Lancaster and Elsie R Landisville along with 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Funeral at Honey Brook Methodist Church Friday at 2 pm with interment in Honey Brook Cemetery.
Mrs Kate M Franklin 61 of Soudersburg wife of William B Franklin died unexpectedly at 3 15 am at her home. She was born in Wrightsville York County daughter of the late William F and Mary Ann Kilgore Krewson and lived in Soudersburg 16 years. A member of St John Evangelical United Brethren Church Paradise she belonged to the Inner Circle Sunday School Class Missionary Society and the Heirg Hand Society. She was a representative of the new Circle Class to shut in members. She is survived by her husband two brothers Lawrence Krewson Lancaster and George Krewson Le [Continued on Page 8].

The remains of 474 Americans killed in World War I are being returned from Italy aboard the United States Army Transport Victory. Next of kin in Pennsylvania may request burial in private or national cemeteries, or in a foreign military cemetery. One identified case is Technical Sgt. Leon R Grabill of Bareville and Private John H L Brugger of West Main Street, awaiting arrival.
The 1948 New Holland Community Carnival wraps up with two final nights. Friday features the Allenstown Band drawing a local audience, while Saturday presents Texas Jim Robertson and Shorty Warren and His Western Rangers. A large crowd is anticipated at the Community Park with refreshments and games.
At a Liberty Fire Company meeting Frank L. Peters was named the new State Fire Warden for the Welsh Mountains region. The action was authorized by the Commonwealth of Fennayivants and announced by President Lewis L. H. Martin. Peters succeeds Clyde McKillips as Fire Warden.
The public is invited to hear Calvary Hour staff Rev and Mrs William G Detweiler and the Amstutz Trio in a sacred program Saturday July 10 at 7 30 p m at Wilkens Howe Grove midway between Morgantown and Churchtown Ohio sponsors expect attendees from Orrville and nearby communities to join this community event
To Present Concert the Jubilee Singers a colored quartet from Sheridan Pa will present a concert at the New Holland High School Auditorium Saturday evening July 10 at 7 30 p m No admission will be charged The public is invited to attend.
Emma M Chandler daughter of Mrs Fickes of Gap R 1 married Lancaster native Jacob P Martin in a 2 PM home ceremony at 420 Reynolds Ave. Rev Charles W Clodfelter officiated. Attendants wore equa dresses and corsages. The couple will reside at 88 East Vine Street and work at RCA and National Bearings.
Miss Janice Quinn daughter of Mr and Mrs Lawrence Quinn of 623 South West End Avenue Lancaster wed Vernon A Newswanger son of Mr and Mrs Henry Newswanger Bareville Saturday at 2 pm in St Luke's Reformed Church. Rev Robert W Rosby officiated with maid of honor Miss Harold Newswanger Bareville and bridesmaids Miss Carole Quinn Miss Dolores Glazer Miss Jane Watter. The couple planned to reside with the bride's family after a reception at the church and a Pocono Mountains honeymoon.
Lois J Weitzel daughter of Mr and Mrs Harry Weitzel Bareville married Charles V Bryson son of Mr and Mrs George Bryson at Hilton. The ceremony was conducted by Rev B J Sturgill at 3 15 p m The couple reside in Lancaster.
Terre Hill held a two day Fourth of July weekend dedication for a ten acre memorial playground honoring war heroes. The ceremony featured unveiling of an honor tablet, remarks by Hon. Guy K. Bard and Rev. John F. Simeltzer, readings by Mrs. Norman Weaver, and a civic pledge to create a full, well equipped playground with baseball diamonds tennis courts and other amenities.

The official opening of the new section of the New Holland to Lancaster Pike will be observed on Saturday July 31 with ceremonies planned by Tri-Town New Holland representatives chaired by Samuel R Myer Bareville. The event includes a parade dedication of the Tri-Town ambulance and a baked ham supper at Bareville Fire Company hall.
The Ladies Auxiliary of the Liberty Fire Company will hold their annual covered-dish picnic supper at Community Park on Wednesday July 14 at 6 o'clock. Members urged to attend.
