His son George Russell, over six feet tall and revered, lived there four score and six years and was remembered as a devout Christian and a peaceful, strong man. Fourth of July in New Holland Features Fireworks and Ball Games
In New Holland the Fourth featured a fireworks display supervised by D. W. Marshall with music from the band in new uniforms, a rain shower later dampened evening plans, and sports highlights. Local leaders presented resolutions from the 99th Pennsylvania Volunteers to Captain Abram Settley with speakers including Hon. A. W. Snader and George H. Ranck. The New Holland Juniors, all under twenty, defeated Honey Brook in the morning and Akron in the afternoon on the home diamond. Annie S Diffenderfer 96 died at 2 10 pm Monday at 542 North Duke street Lancaster from infirmities of old age. She was born November 15 1837 in Lancaster daughter of John A and Elizabeth Lauer Springer last surviving of 12 children and lifelong member of St Pauls Reformed Church. Her husband Frank R Diffenderfer former editor of the Daily New Era preceded her in death thirteen years ago.

Ladies Aid Society Honors Mrs Yohn and town barn fire
The Ladies Aid Society of St. Stephen Reformed church met at Longabach's Grove with a new president Mrs. E M High of Blue Ball. Mrs. William Yohn was honored for twenty years of service and made an honorary member. A lightning fire later destroyed a large frame barn on David N Burkhart's Narvon farm, killing a horse and causing about 4500 in losses with 1200 insured.

Scouts Plan Gettysburg Trip from York First Methodist
