New Holland Boro Gains Ownership of Water Plant
After a two year effort New Holland Borough now owns the water plant supplying the town. The sale to the borough was completed two months ago and confirmed by the State Public Service Commission on July 1. The price was 40000 dollars with plans to issue bonds for funding. Improvements include water plugs along the main for fire protection and maintaining existing rates. Water comes from springs on Welsh Mountain about three miles south and 100 feet higher than the borough’s highest point, enabling gravity-fed supply without pumps. Additional higher elevation springs may be added to meet growing demand.
