The Tri County Telephone Association, eight member firms from Lebanon, Berks and Lancaster counties, met Friday January 23 in this borough. C E Eaby of Denver and Ephrata chaired the session with 100 attendees at the High School Auditorium. A banquet at New Holland House followed with Rev C G Bachman delivering the invocation. Plant men later demonstrated operations while representatives from Conestoga Birdsboro Bethel Mt Etna Myerstown Sheafferstown Denver Ephrata Mastersonville Carbon Columbia Mountain Bally and Enterprise attended.

Missionary Miss Gerhard Speaks at St Stephen Church
Miss Mary Gerhard, missionary of the Reformed Church to Japan, spoke at St Stephen Reformed church last Sunday. She is daughter of Rev D W Gerhard who led the local church 1867 to 1888. On January 26 the 160 students from her Japanese school were received into the Church of Christ in Japan by baptism.

Local institute completes 21st session in public school
Twenty five years ago from the Clarion reports the local institute held its 21st session in the public school building with officers R N Bowers president I W Martin vice president Fannie Youndt secretary and LeRoy W Groff treasurer. Edward H Nolt of Hinkletown was badly injured when kicked by a mule and attended by Dr Reilmsnyder. On Wednesday and Thursday teams lined streets to unload last year s tobacco as Groff Levy warehouses and the railroad station received large crops.

Mrs Kathryn Mentzer formerly of Terre Hill died Friday afternoon at the home of her daughter Mrs Diller Geist in this place age 72. She leaves her son Arthur of Terre Hill, another daughter Mrs Charles Scheaffer of Terre Hill, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren, brother Martin Killian of Lancaster, and sisters Mrs Laura Kauffman of Philadelphia and Mrs Viola Ibach of Reading. Funeral from her son’s Terre Hill home Tuesday at 1 30 pm with services at 2 pm in St Pauls Evangelical Church. Interment in Terre Hill Cemetery.
