Barbara Ludwigy an aged Terre Hill resident died Monday at her home. Funeral services were held Thursday at 10 o clock from her late home with Rev J Me Schwengel of the Evangelical Church officiating. Interment followed in the nearby cemetery. Funeral director NYO Henninger supervised arrangements.

A borough Republican meeting at A G Miller's Eagle Hotel nominated candidates for mayor council school directors tax collector auditor judge of elections and inspector for the February 20 election. With no opposition to the slate the primary election was dispensed with.

Auditor Wayne Shaub. Tax Collector Leroy W Groff. Judge Robert Keiser. Inspector Sheaffer Lafferty. Overly said the Citizens’ Lincoln party endorses the ticket for the official ballot.
Farmers rush to buy horses for summer tasks as tobacco markets soften. Clark & Fletcher moved a carload of Ohio horses to Andrew Schaubach’s Cross Keys Hotel in Intercourse, averaging $195.85. Witt Lether sold two carloads at Ephrata sale and exchange stables, with Missouri horses at $153.60 and Iowa horses at $193 per head.
Supervisor Jacob G. Sheaffer observed numerous sound apples in his Eph rata township orchard. He gathered several pounds and found the fruit richer in taste than apples stored from the same trees in the fall.
A spelling bee is set for Saturday evening February 10 at 7 00 at Western School Earl Township with D M Sensenig as teacher. Three prizes awarded for top spellers along with entertainment acts and a small admission of 10 and 15 cents to aid school library funds.
