The Lancaster troop held a 7 30 to 9 30 session where seven examiners tested boys for advancement. Two recruits passed tenderfoot and Chester Fritz earned first class merit badges in health and first aid. George and John Dissinger joined the lineup as the next meeting began.
A wartime letter from Burnell dated December 17, 1918 in France describes cold weather, mail delays, and life in a French rest camp near Brest. A derailment near the railroad station injured several people including John Cummings and Jamey Guimmin who suffered broken legs and head and chest injuries. They were taken to Lancaster Hospital for treatment as authorities investigated the wreck and arranged care for the unconscious victims.

United Line’s Manager Sechler from Lancaster assisted in explaining new methods to be enacted soon. The session concluded with a luncheon and aims to continue periodic trainings to improve service and address operator concerns.
Miss Mary Pickford presents How Could You Jean a Paramount feature based on a Ladies Home Companion story. The plot follows a wealthy debutante who loses her fortune becomes a maid and later regains wealth while a companion comedy also plays. Show starts at 8 o'clock with February weekly Fireman's Fair events noting no shows on Saturdays.
December knitting department reports 19 pairs socks 7 sweaters 1 pair wristlets. Sewing department 14 convalescent robes. chairman calls recall of all wools and finished garments to stack needles and credit purchases. Belgian relief donations of 10 from Hammonds School and 7.50 from Green Bank School. New member Master Charles Rettew announced.
A memorial service is planned at Mt. Tabor United Brethren Church for Private Raymond M. Dunlap of the 316th Regiment Infantry. The service will be Sunday morning at 10 o'clock conducted by Rev. M. W. Fridinger. Dunlap died just days before the clock of the clause.
