Obituary notices detail the deaths of Mrs Salile Bowers Mrs Emma Overly Henry Patton Morris Espenshade George A Cook Susanna Huber Daniel Rhine Snader Lemon Weidman Frances Kochel and others. H K Storb of New Holland sold and delivered a fully equipped Overland touring car to G Frank McGinnis in Buyers town and a 1914 model to W V R Seltzer in Ephrata. More demonstrations draw potential buyers as several others expect to purchase soon.

The 20th Annual Local Teachers Institute gathers from Earl East Earl Brecknock Caernarvon Upper Leacock Terre Hill and New Holland districts at Hean Hall New Welland with sessions all day. The program features openings, discussions on educating defective and backward children, reading instruction aims, high school influence, teacher accuracy, school conditions, and a lecture on superstitions. Officers listed include I W Martin president Ivan P Lowery vice president Anna Ratter Barton secretary and D W Gejat treasurer.
Attendance figures for Boro schools in the fourth month show totals of 47, 34, and 40 with male and female breakdowns. Names of students present every day include Harry Andrew, Mark Hrubaker, Daniel Geist, and Lena Barr among many others. E.R. Kraraing is principal and Freeland Buckwalter leads the secondary school.
Citizens from Pequea and Ledger met at Salisbury high school to form a joint fire company. George H. Hilton was named president with Edward Weiler as vice president and H. E. Baxter as secretary. A committee will seek engine costs and solicit support ahead of another meeting this Saturday evening.
On Wednesday evening January 14 Mrs Jane Rowe near Ledger celebrated her eighty third birthday with friends and neighbors. Guests included Misses Kurtz Hershey Clark Miller Buckwalter and others. Music games and refreshments accompanied a warm gathering.
State medical authorities diagnosed smallpox in Frank Weaver a Gordonville merchant. The post office inside his store will hold mail until fumigation. incoming mail is distributed from a separate building during the precaution.
On Wednesday evening January 21 about twenty five friends from New Holland East Earl Narvon White Horse Intercourse Lancaster York and Philadelphia gathered at Marian Troop s home to celebrate her birthday A late lunch was served and guests wished her many more happy birthdays.
Public No-License League rally drew a crowded audience last Sunday in the U B Church. Rev Meminger Lancaster urged a Fight to the Finish against liquor and its harms to home, church, state, and nation. Lancaster County progress and New Holland support were praised by Lloyd Hershey. Samuel Hoover a bricklayer in our borough was stricken with typhoid fever. He was moved in a special car to the General Hospital in Lancaster for treatment and is reported to be improving as of Thursday afternoon. We hope for his full recovery in the next issue.
The Denver Ephrata and Telegraph Company laid new telephones in the past month across Ephrata Terre Hill Denver and Reinholds exchanges. Buyers include B E Zack Lizzie Hart Martin s coach works John S Renninger Gehman H L Good Isaac Steffy Augustus Demmy I T Zerbe and George Plank with multiple locations such as Bowmanaville Reinholds Churchtown East Earl and No 1 No 2 districts.
A large fox hunt took place Thursday at Intercourse organized by Wm. N. Pinkerton of Pinkerton's hotel. The event drew residents from Lancaster city and county and many Chester County sports, with over a hundred dogs and about fifty riders. John Kurtz the Vintage hunter captured the fox alive. The chase covered roughly fifteen miles and about one hundred guests attended the feast prepared by Mr. Pinkerton.
Several weddings occur in quick succession from Union Grove to Honey Brook. Wenger and Myer wed at Bishop Weaver s residence then plan a Ohio honeymoon while Bensing and Vera Strohm wed in Grace Lutheran parsonage and move to Reading. Pauline Rutter and George Mearig marry quietly at the bride s home and depart for a extended trip. Jacob Styer and Elizabeth Weaver wed at a Reformed Church parsonage with a wedding feast and plans to settle on a farm near Honey Brook.
In Vogansville the Union Church revival meets with strong turnout as thirty seven converts are recorded. The event will continue for several weeks with broad community invitation extended to all. Nearby in Earl township supervisors plan a meeting at the Styer House New Holland on Saturday Jan 31. Nearby, typhoid fever and pneumonia keep many bedridden. John Wann of Reading visited several days. Rhine Snader funeral at Bergetrasse drew a large crowd. Mr and Mrs Samuel Heiser of Akron visited Rolandis B Martin family.
Harry Boyer remains on the sick list with attending physician Dr Mylin of Intercourse. Minnie Moore spent Saturday in Lancaster. H L Overly and family visited Geo W Bair and wife in New Holland. Farmers delivered tobacco to Mr Levy on Wednesday. John B Bair slaughtered a steer, dressed weight 931 lbs. Reva Jacob Heatwole of La Junta Colorado and Henry Bear of Hagerstown Maryland will preach Saturday morning at Groffdale at 9 80 o clock and in Goodvilla at 7 380 o clock. Everybody invited.
Successful revivals concluded at Groffdale meeting on Sunday evening. Twenty three persons came forward to the altar during prayer.
Mr Krimes district president of Reamstown installed officers for P O S of AL No 274 including Past President Earl Weaver President William Detterline and others. The Terro Hill Alumni Association met at Mrs Mary Watts home. Revival meetings continue at Evangelical and Trinity churches. Miss Anna Kurtz visited Blanche Lutz. families and townsfolk shared weekend activities and a Blue Ball Fire Company Fair attendance. A stocking factory interest seeks local female workers. Ezra Zimmerman coordinates. Intercourse Council Fraternal Patriote Americans initiated seven new members. total 1750 with average initiates under 27. Further community notes include residents moving, visits, and social events.
G F Groff and family and F Ednif and family visited Al Sprecher at Landis Valley on Sunday. Levi Sowers visited Eden to see Mary Baby who had an auto accident. Clayton Wenger’s horse bolted breaking a wagon. Plasterers began work at the factory. Elias Hess has a mild typhoid fever. Rev D S Meyers returned from Lebanon County after revivals. Mrs Susanna Renninger remains on the list. John Ware Co electricians continue wiring many homes. A sale at S E Snadler’s hotel on Saturday was successful. Dr Fletcher and directors inspected local schools last week.
Mrs Ezra Stoltzfus is on the sick list. Parke Duninp was confined at home last week with a bad cold. Misa Cora Hammond spent Sunday with sister Mrs P E Greenberger. Miss Maggie Newswanger of Kinzer visits her uncle Jason A Wenger. Ada Stoltzins returns home after weeks at Christian Japps near Intercourse. Jason A Wenger and wife attended the funeral of Lizzie Witmer East Earl last Thursday. Jason A Wenger and daughter Velma spent Sunday near Kinzer. Mrs Paul E Greenberger visited Wednesday afternoon with Mrs John Greenberger. Ezra Stoltzfus and wife visited John Ash and family Sunday afternoon. Misses Annie Ella and Venetta Miller spent Sunday afternoon with Mamie Stoltzfus. Sandsy School at 9 15 a m.

John Bair filled his ice house with seven inch clear ice. Geo W Ream served as grand juror this week. Mrs Stoltzfus is sick. Harry R Bair visitors to Mrs Amos Norton ill with pneumonia. Joseph Zook and family visited Christian Fisher near Bareville. Monroe Davidson of Lancaster formerly visited.
Mary Martin and daughters visited Mary Martin Sensenig and wife. Lydis Wenger and Barbais Wenger visited Enbrata with Norman Troxel and wife. Ettie Geist attended Emma Overly’s funeral in New Holland on Wednesday. I. W. Martin hosted Elam Hollinger and family Petersburg, George Weaver and family East Earl, Addison Martin Honey Brook, David Hurst and family near Churchtown, A G Weaver and family plus grandmother Weaver from this place.

Mr and Mrs Daniel Usner spent Sunday with his father Henry Usner at Green Bank.
