An old time spelling bee is set for Saturday evening February 10 at F P A Hall Intercourse under Intercourse Hall Association. Three classes offer three prizes each with a fourth class winner earning a $3.50 gold piece. The Grandfather's Trank Class rewards the most correct and best answer. Free for all in the general information class with three prizes. There will be readings vocal music and trios.

Evangelistic Services at U B Church Revived
U B Church notes two weeks of special evangelistic services with three penitents at the altar. A Sunday sermon on Danger Signals appealed to young people as illness delayed the quarterly conference until Saturday afternoon. The pastor plans a Rich Man and Lazarus sermon and an illustrated Remember Now Thy Creator for children, reserving front pews for them. Rev A G Nye of St John Paradise preached Thursday.

Annual Fair and Summer Baseball Program Planned
Athletic Association to hold a major event and public meeting next Monday. Baseball will be the main outdoor attraction as Lancaster County League berth is pursued. Treasurer Stork reports last year’s receipts with a slight deficit and plans to fund the year ahead. A February four Saturday night fair and a possible minstrel show are proposed at Harner’s basement.

The New Holland Alumni Association announces redesigns for the four act drama Farm Folks to be presented at Warner’s theatre in Harner on Friday and Saturday evenings March 9 and 10. Coach Raub selects the cast from local performers with prior stage experience. Proceeds aid a worthy cause and advance seat sales will be announced in this paper.

Successful Methodist Church Rally Draws Community
Members and friends of the Methodist Church enjoyed a well attended rally last Saturday evening at the M E Church. A served meal featured coffee buns sandwiches chicken ham and desserts for about 110 attendees followed by a program of recitations readings solos duets and hymns. The Ladies Aid donated a robber matting for the hallway and stairs and thanks are given to all who helped make the event a success.

Marriages Record Two Local Couples in Lancaster Area
Parke E Patton of East Earl and Maggie V Fryberger of Salisbury were married by Rev D G Glass at 526 South Duke Street Lancaster with a simple ring ceremony. Elmer Z Stoltzfus of Bareville and Mamie L Stoltzfus of Bird in Hand wed at the bride's home near White Horse in a ceremony attended by about 150 relatives and friends. The bridesmaids were Susie Stoltzfus and Ermina S Beiler. groomsmen were Jacob Zook and John Lapp. A wedding dinner followed. The Stoltzfus couple will reside near Ronks.

Death of J P Hollinger employee at Beaver Street stable
Benjamin Barr a long time Hollinger & Co. employee died last Saturday when a heavy sliding door at the Beaver Street stable collapsed after he attempted to move it with a crowbar. The 76 year old Sandersburg native had resided in Lancaster 27 years and is survived by son Ellsworth M. of Lancaster.
