Thursday marked loading of eleven carloads of tobacco at the New Holland depot while railroad avenue stocked with teams. A new stable near the Styer House by H. L. Stauffer is nearly finished and live stock sales are expected to be regular. Trees east of Roberts Avenue on Main Street were cut down this week. W. High announces a complete livery outfit with round‑the‑clock teams and boarding horses added.

Fire damages Blue Ball barge dealer's home
Last Monday morning a fire struck the home of John D. Bair in Blue Ball. It started near the roof and grew before discovery. The Blue Ball fire company protected the house with chemical engines, limiting the loss to about $500 covered by Earl Mutual Fire Co. and Hartford Fire Insurance Co.
