John Flickinger died at his Bareville home on Tuesday afternoon from heart failure after a period of ill health. He was a longtime member and officer of Zelten Church, and is survived by two sons, Dr Gorickinger of Brooklyn, N Y. Funeral services will be held at the church, with interment in the adjoining cemetery.
John J. Miller aged 93 died Monday afternoon in Coatesville hospital from complications. He lived with his daughter Mrs. A. M. Seldomridge in Honey Brook. Surviving are sons Dr. R. W. Miller Richmond VA N G Miller Chippewa WI and Mrs. A. M. Seldomridge Honey Brook and Mrs. Walter A. Ranch Downingtown. sister Mrs. T S Gilbert Coatesville. Funeral Friday at 1 pm at his daughter's home with burial in United Brethren Cemetery Intercourse.
Alice Poore seven daughter of Mr and Mrs Harry Poore of Rocklyn near Honey Brook died in Coatesville hospital from burns suffered when her clothes caught fire in the family home Saturday afternoon Mrs Poore and her son Lewis found the child in the kitchen with clothing ablaze after hearing screams and she was taken to hospital with third degree burns over the entire body This report continues on page four.
The Old Glory Coffee Company will open its new grocery store in this borough on Saturday January 18 at 7:00 AM. Located in the Styer Evans Building on East Main Street, it is stocked with groceries vegetables and smoked meats. Clarence R Weaver of Jackson Street will manage the store.

A New Holland Lions Club committee is gathering signatures for a petition to Bor ough Council requesting 33 new lighting standards along Main Street from Brimmer to Roberts avenues. Edison Electric Company prepared plans for 400 watt lamps at each post, with council noting current 40 and 250 candlepower upgrades already in place.
Glenn L Morris, fourth on the New Holland High School Star Course, will lecture and demonstrate electricity wonders at the High School Auditorium next Friday January 24. The event features a tiny wireless outfit, a miniature lighthouse, and dramatic electrical experiments including a staged electrical storm and exposures to high voltage effects.
At morning service next Sunday the 19th Trinity Lutheran Church will install elected officers for the congregation. The January card party of Con estoga Post No. 662 American Legion, set for Tuesday night January 21, is canceled to avoid conflicting with the third annual Union Meetings opening that evening. The next card party will be Tuesday night February 18 at the usual time.
The Woman's Christian Temperance Union will meet Monday evening January 20 at 7 30 at Mrs E C Diller's home. Members are asked to note the time change from the usual Tuesday January 21 date.
Mr Morris presents clear puzzling demonstrations based on scientific facts and reasons. The event begins Friday January 24 at 8 00 o clock with season tickets or single admissions available at the door. All invited to attend this feature of the course.
Stockholders of the Farmers National Bank of New Holland met January 14 and approved raising capital from 50000 to 125000 dollars and altering par value. The plan includes adding a Trust Department and changing the bank’s title to The Farmers National Bank and Trust Co of New Holland. Shares issued and subscriptions offered at 30 dollars per old share, with warrants expiring March 5. Directors elected include A B C Groff and others. the bank shows strong deposits, profits, and surplus as of December 31, 1929.
Five directors were elected at a Goodville Mutual Casualty Co. meeting in Goodville on Monday afternoon. Elected were Landis Buchen Farmersville H K Martin Goodville Wayne B Martin Goodville George K Lauder East Earl RD No 1 and Henry S Shirk Blue Ball. By law changes were made and a business report was presented.

Rev Hemphill pastor at Paradise Presbyterian Church and Paradise Lions Club president spoke at the regular semi monthly Lions Club meeting in the borough held Tuesday night at the Legion Home. Reports on projects were heard after a sauer kraut supper served by the Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Next meeting set for Tuesday evening January 28 at 6 30.

Farmers National Bank directors including A B C Groff Amos S Hess Dr J A Hoffman P L Reidenbach Harry L Stauffer D G Weidman H Earl Wright and Charles Zwally will elect officers and effect a re organization at the directors meeting held this Friday morning.
Miss Laura Oehme, a returned missionary from China, will address the Christian Endeavor meeting at United Brethren Church on Sunday evening. The topic is Shall We Abolish or Expand Missions, with Mrs Elijah Mellinger in charge. The society invites all interested to attend a 6:00 pm program featuring a speaker who spent twenty one years in China.

Samuel Schnupp of this Borough visited the Clarion Office to renew for the fifty eighth consecutive year. He recalled being a boyhood friend and schoolmate of Editor Ranck, now in Altoona, and spoke of early days nearly sixty years past. The paper began in January 1873. the fifty seventh volume closed December 27, 1929 and the fifty eighth began January 3, 1930.

Harvey H. Hartranft of Ephrata and Grace E. Barr daughter of Mr and Mrs Clayton R South Roberts Avenue were married at 7:00 PM Saturday January 11 in United Brethren Church by Rev Frank C Aungst. The couple left for Ephram to begin housekeeping in their new home.
David Wenger son of Mr and Mrs Samuel Wenger of West Earl and Lydia Zimmerman daughter of Mr and Mrs Martin M Zimmerman were wed at the Zimmerman home near Springville on Thursday January 9 by Bishop Joseph Hostetter. Bishop Hostetter presided and over one hundred guests attended the ceremony.
Miss Mary E. Groff daughter of Mrs Annie E Groff near Bird in Hand wed Paul Kreider son of Mr and Mrs Benjamin Kreider near Paradise. Bishop Aaron Martin officiated at his home near Intercourse Thursday last week. Dinner reception for 96 guests followed and the couple later planned a wedding trip to Niagara Falls Canada and Washington DC with plans to reside on a Paradise area farm.
Glick of near Gap and Miss Sarah Stoltzfus daughter of Mr and Mrs John A Stoltzfus of near Cains exchanged vows at noon Wednesday in the bride’s parents home. Rev Gideon Stoltzfus grandfather of the bride and Amish Church pastor performed the ceremony. Attending were Sadie Stoltzfus Mary Lapp and Solomon Stoltzfus. A reception followed with about 250 guests.
David G Wenger son of Samuel and Mrs Wenger of Groffdale and Lydia Zimmerman daughter of Martin Zimmerman of Ephrata were married Thursday at the bride’s home by Rev Joseph Hostetter. Attendants included Lizzie Weaver Katie Zimmerman and Menno Nolt and Edwin Hurst. Reception hosted by Mary Nolt and John Sensenig. One hundred guests attended a reception after the ceremony. They will reside on a farm near Farmersville in the spring.
