Shirk Dies in Buffalo at 80 Former Blue Ball machinist
Peter E. Shirk eighty of Blue Ball died of senile weakness at 5 50 pm last Thursday in the Dr Pierce Surgical Institute Buffalo New York after a three week illness. He ran a Blue Ball machine shop from 1884 to 1923 with partners Abram Weaver and Henry Martin. He built a private water system extending to neighbors including a 250 foot well begun in 1905. The Eastern Mennonite Board of Missions and Charities sent 1593.39 to the Welfare Federation, completing five sixths of Mennonite church pledges for hospital welfare. Lancaster General, St Joseph's, and Rossmere Sanatorium receive two sixths, two sixths, and one sixth respectively, from city county drives. The first gift was 1803.76, totaling 3397.15.

Mrs Cecelia Bair McCreary Gute kunst Dies at 64 in Lancaster
Mrs Cecelia Bair McCreary Gute kunst sixty four died in her apartment 319 West Orange street Lancaster after a six year illness. A post office clerk she served in New Holland Quarryville Parkesburg and Coatesville. She married William S McCreary in 1902 and lived in Fairfield until his death on their fifteenth anniversary. She returned to her parents home then moved to Lancaster two years ago. A lifelong Trinity Lutheran member she served as organist and later sang in the church choir. She belonged to Donegal Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution. Survived by her husband and several sisters. Funeral Friday at 2 pm at her sister Mrs Miller home conducted by Rev Frank Ulrich. Interment Trinity Lutheran cemetery.

Thirty-five head of cattle sold for about $2,800 at William Z. Martin’s public sale north of the borough last Wednesday afternoon. The top price was $152 for a registered Holstein cow pair, $304 for the pair, and $107 for the Ayrshire. Forty-eight shoats weighing 30 to 110 pounds sold from $3.50 to $11 per head amid lively bidding and strong attendance.

Auto Hits Two Buggies Injuring Couple in Rain
In the early hours near Mar tindale and Hinkletown a car struck two horse drawn buggies, injuring Weaver Shirk and Anna S. Hurst. Shirk suffered possible brain concussion and facial injuries. Hurst had severe lacerations. The buggy horses were destroyed and both sets of occupants were hospitalized. Ira M. Sheaffer reported driving about 35 miles per hour with rain reducing visibility.
