New Holland Lions Club arranges a two day musical at the High School Auditorium on January 27 and 28. The production labeled the Atomic Bomb of Amateur Entertainment features impersonations of radio and film favorites with audience participation and prize quizzes.
Upper Leacock Supervisors re elected David Horst as president and Aaron K Groff as secretary treasurer with I K Lands as third board member. Auditors named Franklin Ressler R1 Bird in Hand and H E Harsh Bareville with Joseph C Wentz Leola as fourth auditor. Tax rate remains 6 mills for road work to connect Mulger School Road with Lantz and extend Bulltown Road to Mill Greek using state gasoline funds.
Miss Verna Zimmerman of Eph rata recently returned from China as a relief worker will discuss her experiences and current conditions in China at the Hinkletown Mennonite Church on Sunday evening January 16 at 7 30.
Elmer D. Lapp of Kinzer and partner R. J. took eight awards at the State Farm Show with draft horses winning the junior champion mare prize among the eight prizes.

The War Memorial Association of Upper Leacock Township elected five trustees at its annual meeting held in Bareville. Officers to be elected at a January 19 meeting were to be chosen, with Newton E. Martin reporting on ambulance work and the building progress. The Ladies Auxiliary reported about $1,000 in treasury.
A. E. Martin, veteran State Highways Department foreman, retires after more than 80 years patching roads in Church town. At sixty six, ill health prompted retirement. he now farms four acres, focusing on tobacco. He began service in 1812 and worked nearly the same 80 mile road stretch since. The Clarion joins friends in praising his faithful community service.
Cassie Miller aged ninety in March residing with daughter and son in law Mr and Mrs Urban Martin New Holland R2 fell in her bedroom last Sunday and fractured her hip.
Ephrata Community Hospital announces a new fundraising target of 350 850 dollars to complete the plant and equip the hospital for operating readiness this summer. Campaign figures show ongoing pledges and expenses with 60 percent of funds raised to date and plans to broaden community and business leadership involvement.

Mrs Elizabeth Marks widow of Franklin L Marks died at 1 p m Monday at her home 374 East Main Street The burial was at Weaverland Mennonite Cemetery Funeral services were at Esbenshade Funeral Home yesterday afternoon She leaves two daughters Emma R Reynolds Minnie L Reynolds and two sons John M and Roy F along with two brothers and three grandchildren
The funeral for Pfc. John C. Wright, Gap grandson and nephew of local residents, was conducted at Leacock Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Paradise. Gap American Legion Post members served as pallbearers. Wright, killed in Germany on May 6, 1945, was returned home aboard an Army transport and laid out at Wentz Funeral Home in Atglen after living in Berwyn and Malvern.
George A. Boyd of East Earl pleaded guilty at the December term to practicing medicine without a state license. He received four months in jail and a $100 fine plus costs.

Miss Dorothy Jean Studd daughter of Mr and Mrs George F Studd Narvon R 2 and Harold R Sollenberger son of Mr and Mrs Harrison Sollenberger Gap R 1 were married at 130 pm New Years Day in the Pequea Baptist Church Dains The Rev Arthur Meneely officiated.
Military funeral services were held for Pvt Jay A Mowery twenty two son of Harry C and Mary Rymer Mowery Banks killed in action February 27 1945 Garzweiler Germany. He arrived January 4 at Brown Funeral Home Paradise where services were conducted 2:30 pm Sunday by Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion posts. Interment at St Johns Evangelical United Brethren Cemetery Paradise. He entered service January 22 1943 trained at Fort Eustis Camp Edwards Camp Gordon Camp Stewart Camp Davis and Fort Meade. He was a rifleman with Company I 120th Regiment Third Army and arrived overseas January 8 1945. He earned three battle stars and the Purple Heart. He formerly worked at Armstrong Cork Company Lancaster. Survived by parents and brothers and sisters John R Mowery Grace M Watson Clarence E Mowery Mary Jane Strubel and Lee W Mowery.
The New Holland Alumni team and the High School cagers meet Friday evening January 21 at 6 46 p m with two games including a girls contest. An after dance raises funds for the Alumni Association and high school.
