A citation certificate for the Sixth War Loan Drive was presented to New Holland Schools by C. W. Carey and W. Ntrauer as Joan Swiegart praised student efforts. Lancaster County sold over 200 000 in bonds with 25 percent of county totals from local students. The school earned two planes named Army Hospital and pursuit as honors. Victory Band to Present First Winter Concert in New Holland

Witwer Earns Five Battle Stars For WWII Service
Corporal George R. Witwer of Nurvon, son of Mr and Mrs George R Witwer, is authorized to wear five battle stars for combat with Gen Patton's Third Army. He enlisted October 24 1942, trained at four U S camps, went to England then France. A New Holland High School 1940 graduate, he worked at the Mac-It-Parts plant in Lancaster before enlistment.
