The Senior Christian Endeavor Society held its Sunday prayer meeting with the new hymnal Hymne for Christian Youth prepared for Endeavor Societies by the International Society. St Peter’s Lutheran contributed forty hymnbooks for Netievile’s convention delegates. the local group had 20 registered delegates. Ivan P. Lowry led the meeting, with Daniel Oehme in charge next Sunday’s topic Loving As Jesus Loved.

Winners of the W C U Essay Contest were awarded prizes at a meeting held in the Borough under the auspices of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union. The event took place in the high school auditorium in the evening of January.
At the annual meeting of the Bible School of Trinity Lutheran Church last Thursday evening the following officers and teachers were elected for the present year. List includes Superintendent G. S. Townsley and numerous assistants, librarians, and department heads. Installation slated for next Sunday session.
The Lions Club met at the American Legion Home with a strong turnout. Dr J V Givler gave the main address while Miss Emily Brimmer presented readings. Rev C G Bachman reported on the Junior Band progress and committees outlined plans for a minstrel show a spelling bee and a box social to benefit the Junior Band fund.
Miss Bess Gilfillan of New Holland was elected president of the Lancaster County Prison Board the first time a woman has held that post. Board members include solicitor Harold G Ripple clerk William E Cogley and chaplain Rev P L Carpenter. Guards named J M Russell John Hundberger Samuel Kling James Messenkop J W Weaver Milton May Daniel Russell Samuel Speer Joseph Hogarth William Overly H C Goley and matron Mrs W N Foust.
A surprise party was held at Harold Stauffer's East Main Street home in the borough on Friday evening. Senior Class members from New Holland High School attended and joined in games before refreshments were served to Dorothy Mohler, Martha Graybill, Edna Woomert, Amelia Fenninger, Helen Overly, Reta Martin, and Mildred Byunn.
January meeting of the Loyal Workers' Circle of the King's Daughters Society in Trinity Lutheran Church Sunday School rooms opened with singing and prayer. Reports were read by Mrs. Chas. Wanner and Mrs. R. B. Good, followed by a Bible study on the Parable of the Sower led by Helen Becker. Sympathy committees were named for West New Holland, East New Holland, and Blue Ball areas. Plans began for a Valentine Party on February 6 in the near future.
Mr and Mrs John Lauffer of the borough entertain at a birthday party for their daughter Mil dred. Guests from Lancaster Fetterville Honey Brook Coatesville Morgan town Bareville attended and gifts were exchanged after games and refreshments.
District No. 12 will host two spelling bees to raise funds for the Daily Vacation Bible School. The first event at Goodville Fire Hall features humor readings by Rev. S. A. Rauch plus music. the second at Blue Ball Fire Hall promises a strong program. Each bee offers two spelling classes and one general information class with three prizes in each. Admission is 15 and 20 cents. Candy will be sold.
Martin Mohler Earl Sensenig and M Darius Good of this borough attended the third meeting of the Past Grand Association of Odd Fellows Northern District Lancaster County held Tuesday evening in the Orion Lodge hall at Columbia. The trio joined the organization now numbering nearly fifty from thirteen lodges in the district. C J Dunn serves as treasurer.
The American Legion Conestoga Post 662 will hold its regular monthly card party at the Legion Home 108 West Main Street this borough next Tuesday evening January 15. Start time is 8 o clock with tables for 600 and ae and prizes awarded.
The junior band announces its 87 members for the program with a list of players across instruments including saxophones clarinets and brass. A shipment of instruments will arrive next week and the group will begin practice under musical director Mr Baldwin.

American and international societies will share testimonies and hymns and report meetings abroad to reproduce abroad events on World Peace Sunday May 19. Lancaster County societies participate in these observances with Denominational Day on January 27 and Christian Endeavor Day on February 3 with themes on serving the world through the church and the Challenge of Christ to youth.
