Private Ha. K. McKenns of the Pennsylvania Motor Police presented a lecture and slide show on patrol operations and highway safety to students. The program traced highway construction from start to finish and emphasized safer traveling on present roads from Harrisburg to Pittsburgh.
Miss Nance Pugh chaired the District No.7 gathering of the Business and Professional Women's Club held Monday evening at Miss Virginia Hoffman’s home. Interment will be in St Joseph’s new cemetery.
Mrs Barton M Martin died at her Weaverland home on Thursday at 11 pm after a complication of diseases. She is survived by her husband, one daughter Mrs Jacob Zimi Mierman of Blue Ball, step-son Horace W Martin of Ephrata R D, five grandchildren, two sisters Mrs Amos Witmer of Talmage and Miss Buale Martin of Paradine, and one brother Levi Martin of Blue Ball. Funeral services will be held Saturday at the late home at 180 o'clock with further rites at Weaverland Mennonite Church and burial in the adjacent cemetery.
Samuel W Jacobs 54 died Friday at 6 20 PM from portanitis at St Joseph's hospital. He worked thirty three years at Storb's Sons marble yard and served in the U S Marines twice. He was a Knights of the Golden Eagle member and former High Constable of the borough. Survived by wife Emma Fecker Jacobs and children Richard and two sisters Anna and Mrs Willians Ellis and brother William. Private funeral at Esberishaden Funeral Home Monday with interment at Trinity.
