Mrs Cora Ree, aged 60, obituary notice in the island paper states J C Henninger funeral director in charge and funeral arrangements forthcoming.
Ruth Amanda Gockley eight months old daughter of Mr and Mrs John M Gockley died Sunday morning at 9 o clock of pneumonia. Survived by parents and siblings Mary Clarence Earl Harry Samuel Naomi all at home and grandparents Mr Mrs Albert Gockley Groffdale and Blam Landis Os Florida. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 1 30 with public services in Groffdale Mennonite church at 2 oclock Burial followed in the adjoining cemetery.
James H. Moore aged 78 of Bareville died at his home after a period of infirmity. He lived in Bareville since 1908 and belonged to the Church of the Brethren, serving on the church building committee. Survived by his wife Martha K Shirk and several children grandchildren and great grandchildren. private funeral Friday at 1 30 pm from the home with public services at 2 pm at Bareville Brethren church burial in Bareville Cemetery.

Several dozen pocket knives and other merchandise were stolen from ER Renninger’s hardware store in the Showalter Building. Entry was gained by forcing a door with a chisel and hay hook, leaving tools at the scene. Constable P Morris Baby and Corporal Davis investigated but found few clues.
H Edgar Good of New Holland Hardware & Electric Company suffered cuts and bruises when his Ford swerved off the New Holland pike near Graffdale road Friday night at 10:30. The steering wheel released causing the vehicle to crash into a telephone pole. cross arm broken, dash and knee injuries noted, no fractures. The car was bent but repairable and Good expected to resume work soon.
The minister will preach a second sermon on great religious messages in poetry next Sunday evening. The talk aims to present practical living principles from Henry Wotton's The Sappy Life rather than literary critique. Sunday School meets at 9 15 with catechetical class at 2 30.
Swarthmore Chautauqua announces a fine three day program February 21 22 and 23 with a junior section for children led by a highly regarded girl leader. Arthur Walwyn Evans a cousin of Lloyd George will lecture What America Means to Me blending wit with timely message. The play Give and Take from an original company will tour major cities and the Dunbar Bell Ringers bring renowned performances.
Borough installs five new digital traffic lights at Kinzer Brimmer Roberts Custer and pier Avenues and Main Street to reduce crashes. Lights operate in timed 20 second cycles with Main Street priority. Drivers must obey signals or face fines. warnings say enforcement will be strict to prevent accidents.
Robert H. Wright of the borough sustained a severe sprain to his right side in a skating mishap at Gehman’s Ice Pond on Sunday. He fell heavily while attempting a few fancy figures but kept about afterward.

On Friday January first arl Sensenich of West Main street in the borough fell from the top of a shifting box car as he released the brakes. Employed by New Holland Milling Company he landed on the rails and lay unconscious. Doctors Hoffman Wentz and Atlee attended and he is reported healing with no serious injuries despite severe bruises and sprains.
This week the borough received a German hand grenade thrower used by the Germans in the late World War. The weapon, surrendered to the government, was part of a national program gifting such arms to Pennsylvania. Col Jeremiah Seaman arranged for New Holland to receive one now on exhibit in the American Legion rooms inviting public inspection. No decision yet on its permanent location.

Albert Stief of the borough narrowly escaped serious injury Sunday night while attempting a sharp left turn at the Kinzer's Cement Works bridge over the Reading Railroad near Ephrata. His Studebaker touring car plunged between the bridge and a large tree on the driver’s side before coming to a stop.

Harry E. Ressler was sworn in as burgess of New Holland along with council members C. L. Davis C. S. Fritz C. 9. Fritz L. R. Boyer and C. B. Townsley at a Monday reorganizational meeting. Council named C. S. Fritz chairman pro tem and Paul B. Hess president with David H. Styer as clerk. Hess set year long committees and IC. R. Weaver was reappointed water superintendent for two years.
The County Committee of American Legion Posts awarded Conestoga Post No. 662 a silver loving cup for the greatest membership increase in the county, 92.8 percent this year. The award ceremony precedes a January 15 County meeting in Lancaster. Officers for 1926 were installed at Showalter Building with Irvin Weaver officiating.
A sale of 25 dozen ladies and childrens sport gloves, all samples, originally valued at 1.00 per pair, offered for 0.50 per pair. Seller S. Rubinson notes the clearance closing this stock.
