Herman Mueller built a hand crafted Bethlehem crib depicting the nativity scene with palm trees, a well, a haloed baby, illuminated star, and Bethlehem houses. The nighttime display includes a shepherd and flock and is shown at St. Teresa Chapel in the Showalter building from 7 to 9 pm tomorrow.
The Ladies' Auxiliary of Blue Ball met at Mrs. Marvin V. Brubaker's home on Friday evening for routine business and a Christmas party with Santa delivering gifts. Guests included Tessie Weaver, Margaret Zimmerman, Alice Adams, and numerous others. Lita Brubaker, Bertha Diller, and Elsie Brenneman served as hostesses. The January meeting will be at Mrs. D. W. Geist's home with Mrs. Geist, Grance Geist, and Mrs. Tillman Horst as hostesses.
The Sacred Song Concert by the Byler Family of Lancaster, planned for Thursday evening at Mt. Airy EC church, has been postponed to a later date due to weather conditions.
A writer in Omak Washington sends holiday greetings to Clarion readers from Lancaster County. He notes how the home-town paper keeps him in touch with news from back home even ten years after moving away and thanks several local writers and readers for subscriptions and remembered names. He invites editor space for a brief personal message.
St Stephen Reformed Sunday School elected officers for all departments on Sunday. Key posts include Supervising Superintendent Lewis Garman and secretary M C Buckwalter with Rob C Yoder as assistant superintendent. Other officers cover cradle roll music and youth, with multiple teachers and assistants named.
Mrs Evelyn B Bare twenty seven wife of Elvin K Bare of near Birdin Hand died at her home at 730 am Wednesday of lobar pneumonia. She is survived by husband and children E Robert John Jacob and Arlene at home and by her parents Jacob R Hoober and Lydia M Hoober of New Holland. Also survived by brothers Clement and Aaron Hoober Mrs David Nolt Mrs Adam Weaver John Hoober and others and grandmothers Mrs Sarah Burkholder and Mrs Mary Hooker. Brief services at 130 pm Saturday then public services at 2 pm in Stumptown Mennonite church burial in adjoining cemetery. Friends may call at the home 7 to 9 pm Friday.
A week of prayer and evangelistic meetings will be held at the United Brethren church in Intercourse starting next week at 7 30 pm each evening except Monday. A fox chase is planned for Saturday January 4 at the Eagle Hotel in the borough. Diller Geist will oversee the event with the fox dropped at 3 00 p m.
Isaac Sprecher and Lewis Storb fell from a horse when its saddle lip snagged by a coat sleeve near R K Wright's residence. Sprecher sustained a dislocation. Barton Kretcher's arm required amputation above the elbow after a clover-huller accident on Adam Baby's farm. A runaway horse damaged three carriages, narrowly avoiding greater harm during a funeral crowd. Two men died in a boiler explosion at John Hildebrand's farm near New Providence.
Mrs. Fannie Martin eighty four of Union Grove died Monday at home from a complication of diseases. She leaves a stepson Jonas Martin of Weaverland and sisters and brothers including Mrs Hettie Buckwalter Joseph Shirk Peter Shirk Annie Mary and Mrs Abram Horst Rev Christ Shirk. Services at home Friday at 10 followed by Lichty cemetery and Lichty Mennonite church service. interment to follow.
Mrs Mary E Miller seventy eight widow of George W Miller of Churchtown died Monday evening at Dr W L Anthor home Oak Lane Philadelphia after a week long illness. Survived by daughter Mrs Anthor son Alvin Miller Coatesville and sister Mrs Ida Plank Johnstown. Services held Thursday at Dr Anthor home and Churchtown M E Church at 2 30 p m. Continued on

Floyd Wynn nine son of Mr and Mrs Walter Wynn of Fetterville was injured when struck by a northbound truck on Route 5 near Honey Brook Blue Ball road while sledding at 4 p m. Several companions escaped injury when tossed from the sled. Diem driver said he could not stop in time as the sled was not visible from the highway. The boy suffered a head laceration and fractures to both legs. He was treated by Dr P R Wentz then taken to Lancaster General Hospital where condition was reported good yesterday.
Daniel Sauder, son of Mr and Mrs Amos Sauder of Ephrata township, married Miss Edna Hershey of Paradise Wednesday at 9 am. The ceremony was conducted by Bishop Abram Martin at his Intercourse home. They will live at the bride’s home and begin housekeeping March 1 in Akron.

Two couples in the borough celebrate their twentieth wedding anniversaries on New Year’s Day. Mr. and Mrs. H. Earle Wright and Mr. and Mrs. Harry E. Ressler share the milestone and receive best wishes for health and happiness ahead.
James Richwine was chosen president with Lee Stauffer as vice president at the latest meeting of the 9 15 Bible Class of St Stephen Reformed Sunday School. Other officers include Richard R Hopper and Robert Irons as vice presidents, Charles Albright secretary, Arthur Futer assistant, William Gilfillan treasurer, Dr E H Metford leader, R E Whitmore and Carl Laderach assistants, Charles Laukhoff pianist, Wayne B Ranck chorister.
Revival services begin on Watch Night and run every evening next week at 7:15 PM. Sunday services start at 7 PM. The Men's Chorus will render special music tomorrow with music programs by local and visiting quartets each evening.
Daniel Bowell of Bareville reports a single white pine tree cut on the Hollow Job near Bowmansville yielded 1,000 feet of lumber. The butt measured 38 inches, top 20 inches, and the tree stood 53 feet long. Poplars in the same woods yielded 700 to 800 feet.
The Davis children express gratitude to relatives and friends for sympathy and services during their mother Mrs. Bertha Evans Davis's bereavement.
Miss Gloria Harnish spends holidays at home in Brownstown. Miss M Banzhof travels from Georgia to Miami Florida to visit sister Mrs Wilkinson. The New Holland Beneficial Association No. 1 will hold its annual meeting at the Farmers National Bank and Trust Company building to elect officers. Current officers are Sydney Irons president A B C Groff vice president Charles F Yost secretary and George F Besore treasurer. Trustees are C M Groff R E Whitmore and Kenneth Smith. Borough Council also meets Monday for the annual reorganizational session with Chief Burgess W R Piersol administering oaths to Frank H Ludwig Henry H Gehman and R E Whitmore who resume seats after reelection to fill an unexpired term. The remaining members are new.
Liberty Fire Company votes to honor Benjamin Franklin by attending a United Brethren church service on January 19 at 7 30 p m. The group adopts membership cards for all members and elects delegates to the Lancaster County Firemen's Association. Five new members join and Fire Chief Harry K Weaver is chosen to attend firefighting instruction in Lancaster. An enjoyable social hour follows with 25 firemen present.

Zimmerman. treasurer Luke W. Martin. chorister H. K. Martin. assistant chorister B. W. Witmer. Wayne S. Martin chaired. Zimmerman named secretary. tellers Levi H. Shirk and Elmer R. Witmer.
Liberty Fire Company answered an alarm on Thursday at 3 30 when the chimney of the Harvey Gehman dwelling was found afire. Two fire trucks responded and after using the chemical engine the blaze was extinguished.
