Names listed include Earle Burkey Warren Corral Harry Shetzley George Steffy Ivan Steffy Le Het tie Weaver Emma Lingle Steffy Shetchey and Callie Diem among pupils who did not miss a day.
The Ladies Auxiliary of Lancaster General Hospital New Holland Mascara Paxson hosts a Saturday evening event to celebrate Washington's birthday with a hospital fund drive. Refreshments including sandwiches coffee tea cocoa cakes are available for ten cents each. Proceeds support hospital programs.
Samuel H. Sider of Trimble, Sides & Co., wholesale grocers, 24 South Front St Philadelphia, died at his home 618 North Thirty-second St after about a year of illness. Born in Intercourse, he was 67. He began as a clerk in Williams town and later worked in New Holland before joining Burns & Schmucker in Philadelphia in 1864. He became a partner six years later and remained with the firm until January.
Advertises Dr. Pierce’s Golden Medical Discovery as a cure for stomach and digestion related illnesses. Claims it heals stomach diseases and associated organ disorders, with testimonies of restored appetite and strength after use. States product contains no alcohol or narcotics and endorses it as superior to substitutes.
A toddler in George Jeffers’s home on Main Street Parkesburg cried Pass is the way and alerted his mother to smoke-filled upper rooms. The fire department arrived quickly and two water streams battled flames feeding on joists and a wall partition. Fire origin suspected from an overheated radiator and threatened J Seltzer’s drug store next door.
Friday afternoon last week a fox chase started from the Western Hotel in this borough. After a dinner the fox was released for a chase but escaped before race began and was killed by hounds within a half mile. Christian A. By, who had caught the fox twice before, also attended but had his saddle unbuckled causing a delay. Nath Towes’s dogs caught the fox.
Robert Turner aged ninety four, Marietta's oldest resident, marked his birthday last Friday. Born February 14, 1808 near Beltram Castle Ireland, he immigrated in 1831 with Alfred Cookman and settled in Monsetta in 1839 running a furnishing store. He attends Methodist services weekly and hopes to outlive his mother who died at 107.
Horace Roland esq of Reading spent Wednesday in town with his father. E B Schlauch of Philadelphia visited town on Tuesday. Annie C Brubaker travels to Lancaster for a stay. Er Rosebore and Penrose Emery with spouses depart for Ohio for several weeks with friends. Annie P Diller returns from Reading visit. O H Paxson returns from two months in Honeybrook.
United States Commissioner C P Bricker held a hearing for Mary Heinaey of Brun nerville former Wogansville on pension fraud charges. She claimed to be the widow of Civil War veteran William Goshert to collect nearly 27000 in back pension. The case was sent to the United States district court in Philadelphia where she was taken for trial after a Wednesday verdict of guilty and a sixty day sentence.
A group of fox chase enthusiasts met yesterday at New Holland House in Lytle under proprietor Skiles. They planned to proceed with the chase despite heavy afternoon rain, with a Tich dinner served and the phase yet to be dropped when we went to press.
