A veterinary physician surgeon operates from Main Street New Holland at the former Shaub Veterinary Hospital site with credentials from the United States College of Veterinary Surgeons and independent telephone line 1290.

The seventeenth annual New Holland district teachers institute opened with a morning session and strong attendance. Rev. C. A. Mutoh led devotional exercises and Prof. Geo. Hunter chaired as discussions covered life, self education, and drill in schools led by speakers including Miss Mabel Hoover and Dr. Lyte. The evening program featured A. G. Seyfert’s talk on Booker T. Washington, with music from the New Holland orchestra.
About 8 o clock on Monday evening a man’s body parts were found at the Perry street Columbia crossing of the Pennsylvania railroad. Fragments were scattered for two miles along the track and collected by undertaker Ostertag who linked the remains to Bean Williams a puddler at the Susquehanna rolling mill. A missing gold watch and vest chain unearthed later imply robbery and possible foul play before being struck by a train.
The Mutual Fire Insurance Company elected directors at a Saturday meeting held in the Style House. E. H. Burkholder was named secretary and treasurer, A. W. Snader president. The company, twenty years old, reports nearly three million dollars in in force policies and total losses under fifteen thousand.
The New Holland Woman’s Christian Temperance Union met at Mrs. Anne P. Diller’s home. Reports on railroad distribution of leaflets, district institute activities, and Loyal Temperance Legion work were presented. The group planned a May 30 county convention in New Holland and voted funds for the Frances Willard memorial.
Miss Catharine Bender, over eighty, died at her home on Mast Main Street after a brief illness. She lived alone, was a member of the Reformed church, and was highly respected. Funeral services are set for Monday at 11 a.m. with burial in St Stephen Reformed Cemetery.
Yesterday morning trolley car No. 6 reached the borough on time and halted near the Engle hotel at the road terminus. The car’s armature was badly broken, leaving the vehicle completely disabled. No further details on cause are provided.

Henry R. Barr of Fort township died at his Taurelville home after nine weeks of illness from apoplexy aged sixty one. He was a pump marker and fee dealer who supplied the town for years. Survived by his wife and six daughters Kim, Annie, Mamie, Herma, Carrie, Alta, plus brother Sime N. Barr of Philadelphia. Funeral arrangements not learned at press time.
Raymond B Gottschall Adaums town and Miss Anna Bownin Schwartzville were in town over Sunday visiting Mr and Mrs Inaac Brubaker. Miss Minily Uuckleton Lancnuster and Miss Itta R Darrow were guests in town several days. Mrs Darlington Wright nee Marie Stewart Parkesbore spent the past week here with Da and Mra al Walsh. Misses Anna and Mary o Shiffer Lancaster were in town over Sunday. Miss Margie Brubaker Buareville spent the past week with Mr and Mrs David Gaevkley.
The borough Republicans held a primary last Saturday from 3 to 7 at the Nagle hotel with 8F votes cast and no major contests. Weidler Bensinger defeated Israel G. Rachel for high constable by 50 to 32, and the ticket includes council members Deblaven Groff Bowers school directors Wright Seldomridge high constable Eby auditors Davis Doerr Ranek Snoader and other district posts.
Successful revival at the Methodist Episcopal church in Morgantown ends after several weeks of services led by Rev. W. J. Verity with twenty eight conversions. Tomorrow evening similar services will begin at the Methodist Episcopal church in Churchtown.
Whitmer formerly led the Compass cornet band and will soon conduct a silver cornet band near Cambridge in this county. The exact location is to be determined. The writer wishes Mr. Whitmer and the musicians success, noting his qualifications and expecting a timely debut.
Mrs Jacob Stoltfus died at her home north of Bareville on Tuesday morning aged about sixty. She was a member of the Amish church and esteemed for kindness and generosity. Survived by her husband and several grown children. Funeral held yesterday morning with interment in Myers burying ground south of Bareville.
On Thursday evening at New Holland House Democrats held a meeting and announced nominations for borough officers.
