Lutheran Mission Society Elects Officers for Year

The Lutheran Mission Society held its monthly meeting on Tuesday night electing officers. Florence Brimmer is president, Anna Diller vice president, Emery Witmer secretary, Alta Diller financial secretary, Mary Davis pianist, Mary Kohler treasurer, Mrs. Arthur Ames Light Brigade supervisor with assistants Mrs. John Ranck and Mrs. Addison Wenger. After adjournment, members prepared Christmas packages for Konnerach Mission School in Virginia and Good Shepherd Home in Allentown.

Christmas Pageant Planned at United Brethren Church

The Christmas program in the United Brethren church will be presented in pageant form on Sunday evening December 20 at 730. Titled Lasting Glory the two part pageant covers the Holy Birth of the Messiah and the Lasting Glory of His Life. Proceeds and an offering from the Sunday School will aid orphans and old folks at the Quincy Pa Church Home.

Carl M Groff Dies After Stroke From Exposure

Carl M Groff of 554 North Queen Street Lancaster died at 5 30 a m in General hospital after exposure to sub freezing temperatures for over eighteen hours following a stroke in a pigeon coop behind his home last Friday. Dr J F Trexler deputy coroner ruled bronchial pneumonia from exposure as the cause. He was 48, born near White Horse, son of the late David and Rachael McGowan Groff, and belonged to Lancaster Lodge 43 F and A M Royal Arch Chapter 43 Goodwin Council 19 and Lancaster Commandery 18 Knights Templar. Funeral services will be held at Fred F Groff Inc parlors 234 West Orange Street this Friday at 2 p m with interment in Greenwood Cemetery.

Four Kern children stricken with scarlet fever at Red Run

Four children of Clarence Kern from Red Run near Terre Hill are isolated at Lancaster General Hospital after the mother died last week and a four year old son Henry Adam Kern died Friday night. Relatives and Visiting Nurses burned clothing and bedding and fumigated the home to prevent spread. The father, ill, stays to care for livestock. The late Friday burial was held at Muddy Creek cemetery with Rev. Paul R. Wertman presiding.
