An all-star game between the Ix Company League winners and stars from the other four teams is scheduled for Wednesday evening at Storb Field. Fans vote by ballot, with ballots available at the Clarion Office or Community Cut-Rate Stores. Proceeds go to the Civilian Defense Council.
The Morgantown Firemen's Fair opens Saturday night with the famous Allentown Band as the first major feature. Organizers promise added attractions and a record breaking crowd.
The Young Men's Business League holds its regular monthly meeting Tuesday evening at o'clock in the Lutheran Parish House basement.
The New Holland Victory Band performs Sunday evening at the Community Swimming Pool starting at 8 o clock. The public is invited to attend.
Civilian Defense units are urged to stay on alert for blackouts or air raids with no advance notice expected. Members should convene soon to tighten organization and review personnel. An all-star softball game is planned for August 26 with Defense Corps attendance. Rescue Squads meet at William B Sullivan Jr's home on August 20 at 9 PM.
Mildred Parker and family from this borough visit Ocean City New Jersey with Mrs Alice Keneagy and son Donald Jr. Donald Keneagy and Miss Harriet Esbenshade join for the weekend. Elizabeth Groff spends days in Richmond Virginia for activities around a Camp Lee officer candidate graduation. Mary Kohler and brother John of Selbyville Delaware left after visiting Dr. P R Wentz family. Helen Wentz, director of Occupational Therapy at Jefferson Hospital Philadelphia, vacationing with her parents. Wentz and mother recently visited Selbyville. Bernice Cauller enjoyed a weekend in York with Betty Lockard.
Mr and Mrs Ross K McWilliams announce the engagement of their daughter Dorothy to Captain Michael H Lauria MC son of Mr and Mrs Michael Lauria of Philadelphia. Miss McWilliams is a nurse at Philadelphia Lying In Hospital and a St Josephs Hospital graduate. Captain Lauria is a St Josephs Hospital and Jefferson Medical College graduate and an instructor at Camp Pickett Virginia. The wedding will take place in the fall.

Amos W. Yoder of Narvon was exonerated of blame in the death of 19 year old James Kenneth Longabaugh of Narvon, who died after his motorcycle collided with a potato sprayer in the borough. The coroner's inquest heard the crash occurred last Thursday night, with deputy coroner Fred B. Manship presiding. Survived by parents J Wesley Longabaugh and listed siblings, the family resides around the Narvon area.
At a Wednesday night meeting the New Holland School Board elected three new teachers. Elnett R. Hoke of Emporium will lead athletics and math. Harold A. Webb of Allentown will teach science. Robert P. Simon will head industrial arts. Natalie A. Hogeland of Blue Bell will teach English and girls physical education.
The Union Picnic will be held on Saturday September 6 after a decision by representatives of the cooperating schools. All features planned for last week will be carried out on the new date.

Severe rains on Saturday into Sunday inundated southeastern Lancaster County with creeks and streams overflowing. At least six bridges collapsed or were washed out and highways were blocked, stranding hundreds of motorists and forcing campers and residents in Paradise and Atglen to flee. Acres of flooded farmland and three to four feet of water covered many areas as rescuers used boats to reach trapped residents. The historic Andrews Bridge on the Octarara Creek was washed away and sent to Page 4 for continuation.

Admission is a salvage item, cash contributions at the gate go to the New Holland Victory Band, salvage donated to the official salvage group the Boy Scouts. Victory Band plays, local players work gratis, Sons of the Legion conduct donation collection.
The New Holland Republican Club held its picnic at Maple Grove northeast of Bowmansville on Wednesday evening despite rain. About forty five attendees enjoyed steamed clams roast corn cheese pretzels and pickles while guests spoke including State Senator John E Homsher County Chairman G Graybill Diehm Representative Norman Wood County Commissioner Harry R Metzler and Henry S Shirk former county treasurer.
New Holland Lions Club under President Willis S. Weldman met at the Legion home on Tuesday evening and voted a ten dollar contribution to remodel the Salvation Army quarters in Lancaster. The meeting adjourned with a Lions versus Y M B L softball game action to follow.
Secretary George S. Ranch announced Earl Township School District will reopen on Monday September 14. Schools will resume classes and initial schedules will be issued by the district administration.
Mrs. Henry S. Shirk of Blue Ball returned home after a week in Pitman New Jersey visiting Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Evans and Mrs. Bessie W. Steelman.
