Blacksmith Cooper of Brownstown Dies at 69
Newton Cooper died at St Joseph's Hospital at 2:00 a.m. Friday of coronary occlusion. Born in Talmage he was a longtime janitor at West Earl High School and the village blacksmith for forty years at his shop built in 1785 known as Rachel's Farmers. Survived by sons Robert and Set Spencer Cooper and six grandchildren. Funeral from Esbenshade Funeral Home and Zion Lutheran Leacock with interment in Carpenter's cemetery near Talmage.
