A borough committee led by Isaac W. Cauller will push a thorough community clean-up effort in May. Representatives from service organizations will publish plans in The Clarion to aid property owners. The borough will announce street and curb collection schedules to refresh the town.
The W. Moyer Co Chorus of 33 mixed voices directed by Harry R. Brown entertained a capacity Ephrata High School Auditorium crowd on Wednesday. They performed sacred numbers and lighter tunes including The Donkey Serenade and Oklahoma, featured Meyer's Barber Shoppe Quartette, plus accordion music and novelty dances by Tony Mariani and family of Lancaster.
Ephrata and New Holland Rotary clubs held a joint inter-borough meeting at the American Legion Club last week. Rev. John J. Smeltzer, pastor of Middy Creek Reformed Church, spoke of Army Chaplain service in England France and Germany. A. S. Grover, senior at Ephrata High, played Robins Return by Fisher as a piano solo. Singing was led by Paul Gehman of Ephrata and Morris Kling of New Holland. Norman Miller, Ephrata club president, led the meeting with Ivan Shirk, New Holland president, assisting.
Leroy Martin, forty three, East Earl, was admitted to Lancaster General Hospital Monday night with a fractured jaw and chin lacerations after being kicked by a horse earlier that day. Attendants said he received emergency care from Dr. Michael Lauria before transfer and his condition was listed as satisfactory the following Thursday.
The historic Pequea Church near Cambridge in Narvon R2,reopens with three services at 10 30 am 2 30 pm and 8 pm on April 25 in a rededication of the remodeled building. The congregation dates from 1714 and the minister is Rev Robert Lloyd Roberts.

The New Holland Borough Council at a special meeting appoints J B Russell of State College as borough manager. He is a 31 year old graduate engineer with ten years in municipal service and Navy construction, married with two children. The ordinance sets a $4000 salary and consolidates multiple posts under the manager.
New Holland Schools host an Open House on Friday April 23 with displays from 7 00 to 8 30 by Art Home Economics Shop Science and classes A music and demonstrations program follows in the high school auditorium The event is sponsored by Wilbur Suchard Chocolate Co of Lititz and will be featured on Station WLAN Lancaster on May 6 The open house invites observation of school year projects and activities.
Elias H. Lindemuth seventy seven died at 10 45 a m Monday at the home of his son in law and daughter Mr and Mrs Guy N Musselman 424 East Main Street Mount Joy borough He was a retired farmer and had lived with the Musselman family since last November Death was due to coronary occlusion according to Dr A E Martin deputy coroner He was born in East Donegal Township son of the late Elias and Mary Hostetter Lindemuth He was a Mennonite Church member He is survived by his wife the former Annie Eby two other grandchildren one sister Lizzie He is also survived by one brother Jacob H of Mount Joy Funeral services will be held at the Nissley Funeral Home Mount Joy this Friday at 130 pm then at Mount Joy Mennonite Church at 200 pm Interment will follow in Eberle s Cemetery
Amelia M. Buchen sixty seven of Ephrata R 2 died at 8 55 a m last Thursday at her home after an illness of three months She was the daughter of the late Jacob and Magdalene Martin Buchen of Ephrata township and a member of Groffdale Mennonite Church Surviving are one brother and two sisters Aaron Buchen Farmersville Anna wife of Samuel Radcliffe Lancaster and Mrs Elizabeth Martin Ephrata R 2 Funeral services were held from Ebeneshade Funeral Home in the borough Sunday at 130 p m with further services in Groffdale Mennonite Church at 2 o clock Interment followed at the adjoining cemetery
The Business and Professional Women's Club met Monday evening in the High School library. A report of the district meeting held at Waynesboro on Saturday was presented by president Helen Good. Ruth Miller Davis of Terre Hill is noted as a former FBI special agent.
Elam W. Buckwalter seventy five of 328 12 East New Street Lancaster died at 1 04 pm Saturday at the Lancaster Osteopathic Hospital after several weeks illness He was a carpenter by trade and retired two years ago from United States Asbestos Co He was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church Lancaster Survived by wife Catherine Ziegler Buckwalter a son M Luther of Lancaster one sister Mrs Bertha Hartman Washington DC three brothers Abraham and Reuben Lancaster and possibly Lehigh Two interments Cedar Lawn Cemetery
A Navy service member was honorably discharged during World War II, with the rating Aviation Machinist Mate. The discharge occurred in August 1942 following prior service ending October 4.

Miss Marilyn DeHart spent several days in New York City visiting her roommate and classmates finishing Nurses Training at the Army Hospital in the Bronx. She was accompanied by Miss Marny Hower of Lebanon. Mr and Mrs Harry Irons of Omaha Nebraska are visiting the home of the former's parents for two weeks.
A local skating club announces an open to the public roller party in May with tea service and light fare. The event invites families and enthusiasts to enjoy an afternoon of skating, music, and socializing. Proceeds support club youth programs and rink upkeep.
Community Hospital Memorial drives 64800 in four sections New Holland Earl East Earl and East Lampeter coordinate goals to fund a solarium private room and clinics in the Lancaster General Hospital expansion. Leaders include Charles Cooper Raymond Weaver Harry Weaver Jr and B Roy Witmer.

AmVets announce annual banquet and Ladies Night on Wednesday May 19 at 7 30 p m in the Awl s Home Ephrata. Garden Spot Post 40 met in the Styer Evans Building with Commander Robert Schroll presiding and voting in favor of the McCarthy Fletcher housing bill for veterans. Bud Supplee chairs the ticket committee for eligible veterans to attend the July 24 carnival event.
Forty four pupils from Blue Ball School toured Philadelphia on Wednesday April 14 visiting Independence Hall Betsy Ross House Zoo Benjamin Franklin Institute Fels Planetarium and the Aquarium. The group traveled with teacher Mrs. Albert Weatherby and guide Mr. Jack Williams of Conestoga Transportation Company.
Winners in the spelling bee held last Friday in the high school auditorium by the King's Daughters are listed by class. In the first class Lloyd Greiner won first, Joan Terry second, Clara Bowlen third. In the second class Esther Demmy won first, Merlyn Demmy second, J O Brooks third. In the general information class Merlyn Demmy won first, Mrs Phares Fry second, Phares Fry third.
The Greater New Holland Minstrels production is postponed to Thursday and Friday evenings in May. Charles Ludwig Post No 7862 VFW sponsors progress on the minstrel chorus under Rev C G Bachman with M Weaver Hagey directing the orchestra and Robert G Weaver assisting. Tickets go on sale soon with seat reservations to be announced.
Special services are planned by Elverson E U B Church starting Monday April 26 with daily 4 p.m. children meetings led by Rev Ira R Fortna and his wife. A home coming service Sunday April 25 at 2 30 p m features Rev George S Ranck as pastor and Rev H E Sheaffer delivering the sermon. Evangelistic films at 7 45 p m and participation by several ministers including Rev B Davidson Rev John S een Rev Ira R Fortna Rev J E Keene and Rev F E Druckenbrod. All are invited.
The sound film Queen Esther will be the main feature for the Evangelical United Brethren Church reception honoring more than fifty new members. The event Saturday at 7 30 p m is part of Fellowship Nights sponsored by the Sunday School with talks by church organizations and refreshments by the Men's Bible Class.
